Later in the conference, Rick said that he DID draw up the play. He said that the goal was to "get the ball in T-Mac's hands" and had the attitude of "what do you expect, there were only 5 seconds left in the game."

It was actually pretty incredible - getting the ball in T-Mac's hands is great but Rick seemingly had given T-Mac no direction whatsoever on what he should do after he got the ball even though RA KNEW Dalembert would be guarding him.

I think Adelman's statement above (bold) is also support for a Maggette type of player. Nice to hear, now what is Adelman/Morey going to do about it?

T-mac, ron and Yao should all be capable of getting a foul in that scenario

    he was annoyed, not mad.

    recap:
dissapointed, made so many mistakes, missed so many layups, our concentration wandered--they took advantage of this, they have great atheletes who attacked and pushed us, we didn't even get 1 loose ball. We could have and should have won, but we didn't. We will look at this and come back on Sat and be better.

Team lacked confidence down the stretch he was disgusted and annoyed, "why is this an issue? "he said these players have been in the league for a long time, you gotta finish a game with concentration and finishing. We missed point blank shots at the basket. They were strong around the basket, but we should have executed and didn't go to our strengths--the 4Q stuff--good teams have an outside/inside game in 4q, we have not had this b/c of all the stuff going on. We have to find a way to execute, we will look at why this happened, guys have to take it upon themselves to do a better job the next game. I don't know what else to say.

Tmac with the last play, I want tracy with the ball, we only had 5 seconds and we knew they would switch, we talked about it, the guy made a nice play.

ball movement improved?-it's something everyone is talking about, but how many shots did we have but we did not finish, we have to find a way to finish next time.

He obviously did. Along with the rest of our failed last plays.
    <br>
There's no use in denying it, he is terrible at drawing up plays...
That is one heck of a serious weakness in a coach

They did NOT ask about finishing close games in the Playoffs. Playoffs, playoffs? [IMG]
Wow, u need to get your ears checked.

    journalist question:
Perhaps I might be reaching a bit here, but do u feel like confidence down the stretch might be an issue with these guys in close games in the 4th Q

I was recapping what was said genius, something you have proven results only in creation of words never mentioned by the journalists--like the playoff interjection you made.

That's a play the Rockets run a million times. T-Mac knows it backwards and forwards. What instruction is needed? It's a standard high PnR. Not complicated.

Yes you are correct, they are capable. However, with the exception of Yao, I don't think its in their make up. Aren't we all tired of seeing McGrady take jump shots as oppose to attacking the basket? Ron is not good at attacking the basket off the dribble. Ron is better at post up. Yao is our low post prescence, but he doesnt finish well in traffic due to no lift. Yao gets blocked alot and we know that the defense would have swarmed him with only 5 seconds in the game. So while, TMac may be capable, he doesn't. He prefers the jump shot. Do you really want to watch Ron pound the ball trying to get to the basket? Yao is our best option when the defense plays him straight up. However, when they bring a second and third defender to Yao, he will turn it over.

Hmm... I'm not going to lie, you are partly right.

We had many close games; Rick had some amazing plays.

Against the Blazers. Ron Artest throws the ball in then gets it right back for an open 3. Ron missed, but he was WIDE open. Then you remember Yao's And 1 play.

Against New York previously, Tracy was WIDE open. He missed.

Coach is very creative on some plays. Don't get into your head that coach screws up every single play. :)

One flaw I have with Rick is his loyalty to Tracy. Tracy is not the Tracy of the 04/05 (where Jeff had him). Time to move on.

I didn't realize the coach missed that shot.

And I really do not think that was the end game plan which is why he was furious. I can almost guarantee our announcers called that play on the spot before the ball was inbound. Get the ball to Yao ASAP, they will collide on him and he will either shoot, draw the foul or dish it out and be ready to shoot the three. Crystal clear and most of you I see blaming this loss on the coach I am actually shocked to see you say it but the others I was expecting it.

Why would Tmac shoot with a shot blocker on him. Whatever happened to his draw the foul plays. Tmac f^%$ that play up big time and all you apologist are taking it out on the coach. Tmac has been down for so long that he wanted that light. Dont you dudes see that if he missed that shot he could blame it on the injuries but if he made it everyone would have been smelling his shiet and taking turns massaging his left and right......

What ever happened to Tmac being such a great playmaker. You fools make so much excuses. Man I am so happy I decided to not veiw the forums during the game.

I agree! It should be a simple play, but if you know you're about to run a play where a 6'11" center is guarding your 6'8" 2-guard, don't you think you suggest taking him off the dribble, getting to the hole, getting him up in the air for a pump fake, driving and finding the open man, or hell, even hitting your Center rolling to the basket?

My issue is with him seemingly not coaching his players to be able to get a better shot than what he got. When you know that Tracy is likely to settle for a fadeaway, my issue is not making it clear that's not the shot you want.
