did you guys here rome's show today? he interviewed a boxer with an incredible story (Joey somebody) the guy shot his manager 20 years ago, has been in prison since then, started a "boxers against drugs" program, befriended athletes like Eric Davis, Paul Molitor, Deion, Emmitt, etc. He got these guys to talk to kids about the evils of drugs... he couldn't afford an attorney to try to get out of prison, so while incarcerated he earned a bachelor's degree and a law degree!!! paul molitor put up his bond (100K) to get out of prison, and now he's making his professional boxing debut tomorrow, at the ripe age of 41... the state of Cali is appealing his relese and he may have to return to prison, which he says he wouldn't mind (if that is the will of god)... his story was amazing and I was hanging on EVERY word until he dropped THE BOMB... "charlie manson is my friend... he's not a bad guy... he taught me to play guitar... i befriended him while in prison... think what you want about me, but i don't judge your friends, so don't judge mine... i've known charlie for 20 years, i know the real charlie... he puts on a charade in front of cameras, but that's not the real charlie... charlie is the only guy who will spend life and die in prison to not have killed anyone" of course i am paraphrasing, but that is the gist of what he said... this dude lost ALL respectability with me after dropping that INSANE COMMENT!
You mean you didn't lose respect for him when he shot his manager? Granted, this guy has come a long way and that's good for him, but like he said, he doesn't judge your friends, so don't judge his. Besides, if you were locked up for 20 years and some guy wanted to be your friend and teach you stuff instead of making you his b!tch, I imagine you might be friends with him regardless.
well he explained the shooting situation (of course I don't know the specifics of the case, so i can only go by his explanation)... he said that his manager pulled a gun on him and that during the struggle to stop the manager from shooting him, the gun accidentally went off and shot his manager... of course since he was jailed for 20 years, I'm sure there is MUCH more to this story... i didn't lose respect for him b/c he turned his life around... he did more for others in jail then most people do while living in society... he started anti-drug programs and even got a freakin' law degree!!!! how many people living out and about in the world can say the same? the man deserves credit for turning his life around... of course i'm going to judge his relations with charlie manson! hello, its freakin' charlie manson dude! the guy is pure evil... he has never shown any remorse for his actions, in fact the boxer said he likes to put on an act for the cameras.... hmmm doesn't sound like a person trying to get their damn act together!
Just because Manson is a mass murderer and still exhibits all sorts of antisocial behavior in prison doesn't mean he can't be a good friend to someone. Why shun a person just because he killed a half-dozen people a couple of decades ago (and throws coffee at prison guards)?
Manson is one of the most manipulative people that has ever existed. Anyone who believes otherwise is extremely naive. Ever seen an interview with him? He is like a beady-eyed shark waiting to feed on any weaknesses displayed in the words or dialogue of a person he engages in conversation. Manson is the rarest of socio-psychopaths who inwardly delights in his abilities to dupe others into doing his bidding. The person in the article is an unwitting pawn in Manson's personal chess match with the world.
