China will announce that Ming can play in the NBA. We will win the lottery. We will draft Ming. For totally unrelated reasons -- money or some other issue in dispute between China and the NBA -- China will withdraw its permission. Stern will apologize and arrange an extra draft pick for us a year from now -- at which point we will have to cough up our (cough cough, high-lottery, cough cough) pick to Memphis. You can be sure the story gets worse from there, though I don't know exactly how.
Yeah, I agree. That is why I say, **** Ming. He will likely end being pretty good, but he has proven nothing yet, so if we get the top pick, we should be able to trade for a damn good player (even if they have a high salary...just send Glen Rice with the pick).
If we know it'll happen, then just give Memphis our pick this year, and keep the two high lotto picks for next year.
the ordeal drags on for a few months and Rockets Marketing gets a bright idea to change the look of the arena in the middle of construction to pay homage to the Forbidden City and the Tiananmen Gate ("Gate of Heavenly Peace"). So they change to the arena to this: <img src="http://www.flashlings.com/images/arena1.jpg"> Despite Marketing's efforts, Ming doesn't sign, and we are stuck with that hideous arena and uniforms with Mao Portraits on them. Jeff goes ballistic and closes down the Arena Forum for good.
I wish we could get the first pick for next year, and take Lebron James.Who do you think will suck the worse next year, and what possibility do we have of trading a pick to get the first pick for next year?
have they done the lottery for next year's draft, yet? btw: anyone want to take a shot at designing new uni's with Mao's portrait on them.
Hey Partner maybe we can put your portrait on the uniforms we haven't made yet?HUH? OH BUT WE GOT YAO MING already huh? Hope your post count makes up for whatever is your trying to make up for?
Also, I read somewhere that the owners of Ming would never relinquish that leash around his neck if he had to play for a jewish owner.
Dave, Most of the higher postcount people really don't care about post counts. heypartner and I have both suggested that we completely eliminate postcounts IIRC.
HEy I agree Raven Lunatic **** Ming. I hate all this stupid Ming talk its starting to piss me off. Lets get and American player man. Someone who will want to play with us and doesnt have people choosing where he wants to play. I dont even Ming deserves to be in the NBA with his stupid "Im going to play where i want to" attitude. I know Francis demanded a trade away from Vancouver but its not like he gave Vancouver a list and told them to choose which team to trade him too. Not only that i feel Qyntel Woods will be the best player in the Draft and he will win Rookie of the year. I sure tons of college teams could destroy MIngs Championship team. Woods will be the big steal if Houston gets him at #5 hell if they get #1 pick they should still get Woods.
Reasons not to draft Yao Ming: 1. As Will pointed out there is too much risk in drafting Ming. Hell Les should be quite familiar with the risk of drafting foreign players (see Comets last few drafts). 2 Who can really say whther his experience to date has prepared him fro the NBA. it is likley that he wil be non facotr his first yeart or two. The Rockets can't wait that long. 3. If the Rockets get the first pick maybe they can do like the NFL and just trade down a few spots where they will be in the hunt for someone good and could also also get another pick or a veteran bench player as part of the swap.
