    Hole in the wall?

Well, I was about to recommend the Mexicatessen at 302 W Crosstimbers but a quick check on the internet shows that they closed down 3 years ago. That's a bummer. They were in business for 46 years and they were, by far, the best hole-in-the-wall Mexican food restaurant.

    I'm bummed. :(

If were talking about "Authentic" and not Tex-Mex ala Pappasitos,Taco Cabana, Los Cucos, etc... Then the only one I know of is one called La Fonda on Dairy Ashford between 59 and 90. If anybody knows of any real Authentic Mexican food post it.. I want to try some..

Well, the area of town you're in helps.

There's this place called Brothers taco house that makes good breakfast and regular tacos, and it is cheap as dirt.

Up here in The Woodlands, there is a place called El Diferente that makes great tacos, also. Right off of I 45 near Rayford Sawdust.

Gringo-wise, El Tiempo and Cyclone Anayas are pretty damn good.

Felix's finally closed down as well. It was right next to where I lived, so I tried it out a couple of times and I can honestly say that their closure was completely justified. It was awful the first time, and just adequate the second time.

Whoever liked Felix's didn't know good mexican food, and probably still eats at Los Tios.

pretty good food for decent prices been going there ever since I was a kid close to 20 years and the food hasn't changed. They also have an adjoining panaderia where you can pick up all the sweet bread (pan dulces) you want after your meal.

There's this place in Stafford. I haven't been there since I moved a year or two ago but it's a really good hole-in-the-wall sort of spot. Go south on Murphy. When you cross the train tracks, that's US 90, take a left, and almost immediately on the right is, I think, Taqueria Mexicano Grille.

With a name like that, you KNOW you'll be the only gringo there. Good food to go with a couple of Dos XX.
