If you are wanting Wafer over TMac right now, why not get something for TMac. I am sure with the Pistons problems Dumars would take TMac. A TMac for Rip and Prince would be nice and then try and get something for Ron but I am sure the Rockets will not pull the trigger on dealing TMac.
how much healthier do you want him? He did say he's his old self, he's healthy, he's in shape, he's good to go and it looks like that's not enough anymore.
What I have seen of TMac your faith is blinding you. TMac will not become the player we are used to seeing. I for one hope I am dead wrong but I just don't see anything that leads me to believe TMac will get it going. We shall find out by the 19th were this team ends up.
I am 100% with DD on this one. Two things that gave me hope that Tmac could possibly rise back. 1. Those 2 back to back triple doubles that he put up. 2. Because he said so. I just see the determination in him wanting to prove all the haters and doubters wrong for some reason. Artest was someone who we thought would address our problems and help us win games. But so far Wafer has done a better job at proving that. What this team needs is a real point guard.
do nothing, let's see a healthy team. no point in making a big move now, artest is expiring and mcgrady will be an expiring.
just a quick look at the salaries around the league allowed me to throw out some hypothetical 'gets' for Artest. i haven't tried them out in the Trade Machine yet, nor am i necessarily pushing for anything; rather, for the sake of discussion, given the topic of this thread, i'm throwing these out there:: 1) Ron Artest + Luther Head = Rip Hamilton 2) Ron Artest + Luther Head = Wilson Chandler + Q-Rich 3) Ron Artest + Luther Head = Kirk Hinrich 4) Ron Artest + Aaron Brooks + Luther Head = Steve Nash 5) Ron Artest + Luther Head = Luke Ridnour + Charlie Villanueva 6) Ron Artest = Stephen Jackson + Marcus Laptop Williams 7) Ron Artest = Marcus Camby
Mike Miller? Are u kidding me? Are e talking about the same Mike Miller than was on the same Memphis team that couldn't win a playoff game? The same Mike Miller who shoots 40% and avg 9 ppg in the playoffs? The softie Mike Miller? Please! I'll trade Artest for a guy like Jefferson or Butler. I have to have someone that can be a consistent 3rd guy in the playoffs and it hlps both Butler and Jefferson played in the motion offense. Miller on the other hand, u can keep his non playoffs showing ass in minny.
I know its just for discussion, but keep in mind we need the new guys to fit in, most of those scenarios leave a position clogged up. Camby clogs up the 4 and 5 spots, jax and MW clog up the backcourt, Ridnour clogs up the PG spot, etc. I think Artest and Rafer are the best duo to try and get rid of, thats30+ mins a game each, so the new guys can get significant PT, and Rafer is the most important piece that needs replacing.
I wouldn't mind acquiring one of these guys: Anthony Morrow, Kleiza, Dahntay Jones.......preferably for Luther...it's sad how how few quality PGs there are in the league. They seem to be either untouchable or have issues, but there's more than enough swingmen to go around...
hey could this possibly work im just htinkgin about it. besides the fact that the fans dont like artest it could be possible. if rip becomes unhappy with coming off the bench then he could ask for trade and artest is willing to come off the bench or he could slide to start pf and be iverson stuckey prince artest sheed.... dunno about salaries but tat would be awesome
I REALLY like Ron, but it is becoming more and more apparent that he and Grady can't play "their" games with each other. I think you have to start shopping him so you don't lose him in free agency for nothing and you've given up a young player and a first this year to do it. I'd rather see the coach make some adjustments to the line up and play the two of them opposite of each other or just make them play the system, but that doesn't look like it will happen. BTW, I don't know how well Detroit would do in taking back Artest in a trade. I'm just sayin.....................
I agree. I'm not saying he can't get any healthier and play any better, but I think he'll always be much closer to his current level of play than the all-star form of his best years with the Rockets, I just don't think he has it in him anymore. As for the confidence arguement, the fact that it even comes up with T-mac is a bad sign of itself. How many true stars have these mental issues?
