there were several plays in the detroit game where he did. did he run the offense some of the time? yes. i hear you, he is going to need to test himself to see where is at, and run the iso, to see what he is capable of, but not @ crunch time or when the lead is jeopardized.
Worst comparison ever. First of all, none of those three play on the wing. Secondly, the Showtime Lakers played in the 1980s when the nature of the game was completely different with the emphasis more on offense than defense. It was quite common place to have games with a scoreline of 137-134 without going into overtime. The style of the NBA game changed with Jordan where the NBA was dominated by individuals rather than great teams.
I didn't get my groceries today, all because of T-Mac. I failed in my job interview the other day, cause of T-Mac. My car got smashed in the city, cause of T-Mac. It rained ice the other day, cause of T-Mac. Everything is because of T-Mac.
I'd argue that the motion offense is much more difficult to run at the end of the game rather than in the middle. Have you not noticed our inabilities to get off a decent shot at crunch time without Tmac? We can all agree that force feeding Yao at the end of the game is not the answer. I would still rather have Tracy win or lose the game for us with his creativity. Thats what we pay him for and if he fails then so be it. I just don't understand for the life of me why RonRon would get a play called for him with a chance to tie when he is 4-19 and 1-10 that game.
being banned for sharing one's opinion would be just stupid and childish.. i cant believe how some guys here cry like a girl whenever tmac doesnt produce 40+ i just laugh whenever tmac has a good game and all of these "guys" suddenly become tmac advocates..one thing i can say for sure, you guys are such whiners..go find yourselves another team to be a "FAN" of..
Yeah, and none of them were ball stoppers either. The bottom line is that even for the guys you listed they didn't do it by themselves. Championship teams these days are made up of collections of superstars and one guy who selfishly hogs the ball isn't going to cut it.
budweisers, heneikens, blah blah. how about this? I failed my drug test, and it wasn't the mar1juana i smoked.
If T-Mac can't play the motion offense I don't want him out there period. He's too old and too broken down to put a game on his shoulders and he plays like he thinks he can. He didn't make the All Star Game last year, he didn't make it this year and he's probably never going to see another one ever again unless it's from the stands.
I don't want to see t-macs creativity, unless I know he is all there. because, when he is out of shape, that creativity, leads to a creative dribble dribble, jumpshot in iso.
Championship teams are made up of >2 superstars (preferably with 1 dominant centre and a dominant wing). Thats been the model for the last decade or so. The dominant wing is usually a guy that can be described as selfish (see KOBE Bryant or D. Wade). Look i would describe Tracy Mcgrady as a lot of things. He can appear to be lazy, unmotivated and give little effort on defense and maybe even as a bit of a chucker. One thing he is not is a guy that selfishly hogs the ball. He is without a doubt one of the 2 or 3 best passing wings there are in the NBA even in his current form.
Then i guess you'll just have to whine and complain about him for the next 2 years because he isn't going anywhere.
Badger, Where do you see Ron Artest in all of this? He lost us the game today (and not for the first time) and is guilty of exactly everything that you describe Tracy to be. Except that he is a much worse creator and shoots even a lower percentage. I love his hustle on defense but he picks up utterly stupid fouls and isn't nearly the defender that everyone makes him out to be. He has lost his quickness on defense and can't stay in front of people anymore. I would argue that hes even a bigger liability and i wouldn't hesitate to trade him for someone that fits us better. At least hes easier to trade to Mac.
Look at the third page and Clutch will tell you why he IS banned. Anyways...this is an embarrassing thread to post in. You guys can't hold a normal conversation without cursing each other out.
No one expects T-Mac plays like a superstar, which is why we're pissed that he's jacking up shots like one. Right now, I have the same problems with T-Mac as I did with Rafer for all of eternity, which is that he's SHOOTING TOO MUCH. If T-Mac was T-Mac of the Orlando days, he can take as many of his heat-check 3s and his 20 footer off the pick as he wants. I don't care because he was a superstar back then. He's no longer a superstar now, so he shouldn't play like one. Btw, a comparison between Kobe and T-Mac. Kobe: 47% shooting. 6 FTs per game T-Mac: 39% shooting. 3.8 FTs per game Hence, Kobe can shoot all he wants and T-Mac cannot.
You cant really use stats in comparing Kobe and Tmac right now because out of all the game tracy has played, he only played healthy in the last 2. seems unfair imo.
Agreed. So why are there people in the "rate Tmacs performance" thread giving him a 3/10 for not being vintage "Tracy"? He took 13 shots in the game against Detroit (3 more than Alston and 4 less than Artest) which i certainly would describe as too many. My point is you can't have it both ways.... Its gotten to the point on this board that if Tracy were to play within the offense - people would rip him for being too passive and slacking. If he plays hard (ie: looks to dominate the ball) people will call him T-Jack.
