Oh my God. That is amazing. If I had known how good the 2003 free agent class was years ago I would have put together a game plan to free up caproom. The names on this list are phenominal. Capologists ... assuming that we drop Willis and Walts contract this year, we sign Steve long term, and we some how get rid of Rice's contract before 2003, is it possible to outright sign one of these star free agents?
Signing Francis to a max deal basically takes us out of being a major player with caproom in free agency for the next 10 years (if you assume Eddie will get maxed out, too). Your answer is no. You can always try to sign and trade...or because of the depth, some of those big players may take a MCE for 3 years, then max out.
