You can't force your best player to be a leader, its just something that comes natural to some. As the leader of the team, you have to be willing to tell anyone, even your best friend when he was f****g up. You have o step on toes, but more important, you have to lead the on court play by example. No stupid techs or dumb to's because that makes you look like you're talking out the side of you're neck. He can be if he wants to be, but he needs to get his own house ready before he can criticize others. He definitely needs to elevate his play and do whatever it takes to get this team or keep them around .500. I've never heard of a team where one of the team leaders wasn't on of the teams best players.
He did beat Utah and Detroit with buzzer-beaters this year. He also took two big shots with under a minute against Miami. He made one, and missed the other. The point is, he took them. He also set up Moochie Norris for his three big threes against Phoenix, New York, and Golden State. Before this season, Steve had never hit a game-winning shot.
Thank you ZRB for straightening that up. Steve made a lot of good plays down the stretch of games, especially in the beginning of the season. He took good last minute shots or drives that led to OTs or wins and when he was doubled he found Mooch or Cat. Even the Collier play wasn't that bad IMO.
steves a leader big deal, so is odom, odom should have won the rookie of year if not for pts being the end all of award heres the way the draft of 99 should be: odom steve davis brand sorry steve, but your not 6'10 with the same handles
steve ain't bad as a leader... i think he gets the team involved no matter who's on the team and doesn't ostracize or ridicule (this is a plus when you have cato and players of different ethnicity/background) he can influence the flow of the game but often opts not to. no, he's not a great leader... and i will have to cringe and point to stockton... the epitome of what stevie our boy wonder lacks as a leader... court smarts, experience, smarts in general... the ability to make a call on the court that's better than what the coach could...because you're on the floor playing and you know the way the game is played. sometimes stevie is still playing street ball and being a street ball leader... i hope he'll see what he's got to do or i hope we acquire someone who knows the coming season
sounds like you want odom to, like me, say it with me,o-dom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,o-dom!!!!!!!!!!!,o-dom,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!o-dom,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually if you've seen my numerous posts on odom, i don't want him well, at least not the price he's going
all we need to do is let odom sniff some of the local houston spice dub,and he will be ours!!! just ask mo taylor
