we have his bird rights, we can match any offer I'm more curious about "the rockets unhappy with Artest" comment. I can understand us being loaded at the wing position and exploring our options to unload the excess and shore up our weakspots, but what could the Rockets be unhappy about Artest? He's been on his best behavior so far and doing what the team has been asking of him (from my outside POV).
our pfs are fine. the only pfs i would prefer out there are almost untouchable. a starting pg is about the only way we would trade artest.
Didn't Doc Rocket say Lance was pretty plugged into the franchise? I can see it being true. The play of Von Wafer has made Artest expendable. Artest was brought in for his scoring ability rather then his defense, which is overrated anyway. His toughness and intensity would be nice addition to the softness of Yao and Tmac, but at the end of the day you have to make the tough choice. As some already mentioned, Ron can be packaged to net us a long term solution at PG or Backup C.
That works for the Rockets if considering 2010. The Suns are just dying a slow death. Nash doesn't fit their team anymore but IMO it's too risky to give them Artest...
Why do you have to lie? Dont you think it would have been brought up sooner if it was true by someone else. Artest will remain a Rocket.
We can't afford to match any offer. And he did emphasize that the Rox were unhappy but it was being overshadowed by the T-Mac issues.
1) when he's playing, he's holding onto the ball even moreso than tracy has had this yr and prefers to iso than move without the ball. 2) his injury has all been up to him to judge whether he wants to play or not. and i think he has done the same thing as tracy: choose when he wants to play and when not to play. in several of jon feign's blogs earlier before knowing he had a bone bruise, he said the team was shocked that artest could play so well and hard one game and shut it down for the next few games. it was "mysterious" to them.
i think its bull. ron has been great for the rockets minus his injury. he's saved us a couple times. we wouldnt have beaten boston or the jazz in ot w/o him. can we be loyal to our players?
Everyone keeps saying Wafer makes Ron expendable. Well if we trade Ron they better hope Wafer doesn't fall off. And we need Ron's defense, this isn't the same Rockets team defensively as it has been in the past. Shane Battier, well he definitely needs to step up if we trade Artest. I hope we do not trade Ron, we haven't even really seen him with Yao and Tracy.
we need another top-notch defender who can shoot (well, someone better than battier b/c i don't want him to play big minutes in the playoffs). i wish we can trade battier, keep ron, and have von and barry off the bench.
Bratna8 hit it right on the head. Trading Artest would be a terrible move. The last couple of years in the playoffs have showed us that we need players who can raise their level of play and intensity. Artest is one of those players.
if yao and rafer were healthy last yr v. the jazz, we would have advanced pretty easily WITHOUT artest. but you're right, trading artest would be stupid considering we need that "3rd" guy to step up when yao and tracy just don't have it. however, i trust morey. he usually knows what he is doing.
