IMHO, of course. http://www.nypost.com/sports/41872.htm Games take way too long to end, even for tanking teams like the Rockets!
That would make it more interesting. It's also kind of strange how the crucial part of all basketball games is not really decided by basketball - it's determined by one team's free throw shooting. I think it's an artificial device designed to keep games close at the end and reap additional advertising dollars.
Yeah, the last few minutes of an NBA game are like a small sampling of an NFL game, but we're all used to NFL games I guess.
It IS worth a shot. The flow at the end would be so much better, and the really smart coaches and players would shine... as they should.
Do you know what would really revolutionize the game? Call the game as it is supposed to be called. Bring back the 5 second rule, traveling, 3seconds, and charging. I know the last few rule infractions are called, but not nearly enough. watch any player go in for a dunk or layup. they take 2 steps then jump, which would equal 2and 1/2 steps, the rules state 1 1/2 steps. Also have you ever watched the footwork out on the wings, its pretty ugly, they change there pivot foot about three times before they establish thier pivot foot. Shaq and Iverson dont know what a pivot foot is. If you called 5 seconds players could no longer hold the ball for ten seconds or dribble for 15 seconds, it would force "ball movement". watch players post up. the rules state that if one foot is in the key you are supposed to start the count. Dennis Rodman would spend an entire possesion in the key and the refs would let it fly, because he would take one step out of the key. charging would really hurt shaq. If a player has position and you dislodge them from that position its a charge. watch shaq back in sometime, tell me he is not dislodging them. another shaq gripe I have is his free throw, the shooter cant step over the line till the ball hits the rim, his foot is over the line when the ball leaves his hand. there is a reason that rule is there, so people cant get closer to the bucket when shooting a freethrow, or get better positioning on the rebound. I am becoming more and more disgusted with the NBA, I really dont want to watch the games anymore. It frustrates me to see all the rules that are broken. *but Carter sure had a nice dunk* Basketball was ment to be a non contact sport, and when its played that way it can be fun to watch. thats why I love the college game, they still play with fundametals, except Georgetown, the Nba needs to fix some things or they are really going to lose there fans.
Well didn't Hakeem violate the lane rule by definition, too, pretty much on every post play in his prime by doing the step in and out thing? They do call the free throw lane violation thing every once in a while, but it does seem like it's gotten so you have to jump out about three seconds before the guy shoots before they call it.
