I know how to screw them if we get the 1st pick. We say that we'll pick Ming for them if they pick Caron Butler for us and trade us Camby for Rice. After an exploding day of NYers yelling in the media about the positives of getting Ming versus the negatives of having Houston and Rice on the same team again, Les announces that Camby hasn't passed his physical, yet. Everyone scrambles and realizes Les does indeed have a week to give Camby a physical. At the end, Les says X-Rays revealed that Camby has no spine...the deal collapses...and New York ends up with yet another Small Forward.
OK NJRocket...I'll change it for ya...and I actually think I overdid the trade anyhow...it is too believable. Add quotes...join in!!! Stern: With the #1 pick, Houston takes Yao Ming (yeahhhhhhh) . . . Stern: (At New Yorks pick): I would like to announce a trade. New York is picking Caron Butler for the Houston Rockets. Houston Trades Glen Rice and the rights to Yao Ming, for Marcus Camby and the rights to Caron Butler. (oooooooooo...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...followed by chants New...York New...York New...York) Stern is all smiles. cc.net erupts with a smattering a people who like Camby and questioned Ming enough to let Rice go, and the New York media is all giddy about how they screwed us. Rudy: I've always liked Marcus Camby. He fits in well with what we want to do. He's one of those versatile 4-5 guys who can also help you at the 3 sometimes, and hit the perimeter shot. He's a Sam Perkins kinda player who we always wanted. And Caron Butler is one of those 3-4 guys who gives you so much, shooting 3s, helping on the boards, playing defense. He's a natural tweener. You can never have enough prototypical tweeners. That's why we loved Barkley so much and why we love Francis and Griffin so much. We just didn't think that one position players like Ming,,,and before that, Thorpe, Cassell, Rashard, Pippen, and Shandon fit in with what we were trying to do.
Houston takes Yao Ming. (CC.net shuts down due to massive amounts of web traffic.) Houston keeps Yao Ming, thereby effectively screwing NY. The Knicks select Chris Borchardt, thereby effectively screwing themselves. (Just for good measure, CC.net shuts down again due to traffic volume.)
If i got the #1 pick and I'm houston, I call SA and say take taylor, rice, and this pick for tim duncan. Then I move Eddie to the 3 and trade thomas and #14 to move up to get Marcus or try to swindle atl into trading cato and switch picks for ratliff. Of course I would have to have some assurances that Duncan would resign, but iff all else fails, we cleared cap space and if duncan leaves, we would have money to go after Odom or a small forward after the yr. Getting rid of Taylor,Rice, and Cato's contract would be a definite blessing worthy of that hih pick.
