A team like Golden State or Chicage lands the number 1 pick and chooses Yao Ming and the Rockets receive the #2 pick? Would/Should we pick Jason Williams and if not who should we pick. I have seen in many places that Jason Williams will not drop below the #2 spot but I have a feeling that if Houston gets the #2 spot he just might.
We could pick him and upgrade our three guard offense. Also, in a few years we could move Francis to the two, which I think is a great idea. Take the best player, regardless of position.
We should first go after Ming, but if he isn't available i think williams would also work for our team. Move steve to the 2 and have cuttino as the 6th man. We would have the most unguardable backcourt in the league.
Willliams is another Stephon Marbury. hes never going to be a winner. If i were to chose who we get I would take Qyntel Woods in a heartbeat. That would be an unguardable backcourt for the next 10 years. Francis, Woods, and we could have Cat being the 6th man. Griff will also improve. Mark my Words we will be the scaryest team in the NBA. No one will be as athletic as us cept maybe the Clipps who will come close but not quite. Woods might be better than McGrady, so how can we pass up on him. I mean seriously guys who would u rather have Marbury or McGrady?!?! Ill say TMAC
What are these dreams everyone has of pushing Mobley to the 6th man spot? Do you really think the man who plays the most minutes on this team is going to be moved to the bench for even 1/3 or the game? If Qyntel Woods came here, he would play the 3, and maybe some 4 if Rudy wanted to play small ball. He would not play the 2 unless Cuttino got hurt. Just for fun, a couple sample lineups: Rudy T's Small Ball (c) Moochie Francis Mobley Woods Griffin My dream -- Tall Ball Francis Mobley Woods Griffin Cato
What if Chicago gets the #1 and selects Ming? Would they trade Curry or Chandler? What would we have to give to get one of those two?
Chicago wants to go with a tall line up. With Chandler at 3, Curry at 4, and Ming at the 5. Imagine trying to get a shot off against that lineup.
Ming 7'5", Chandler 7'0", Curry 7'0", Rose 6'8" and Crawford 6'5" all playing at once?????? Jesus...that's some height. Rudy's small ball would get destroyed. They'd outrebound EVERY team they'd play in a couple of years.
My worst nightmare becomes reality. Field offers for Jason Williams with Rice's contact attached for a vet with some defensive presence who runs the floor well in transition.
What on God's green earth makes you compare Marbury to Williams??? I see no comparison other than they play PG. Those are two different types of players, different pedigree, and different persona.
HoopT...actually, Marbury and Williams are similar in many ways...they both were the most coveted high school PG of their eras, both were very good college players in the ACC, both are PG's who tend to be "shoot first" type players, neither plays great defense, both are/will be high lottery picks...im sure im missing some more....IMO, they are very much the same type of player
Well then Marbury and Williams are also like Travis Best, Jeff McInnis, Shammond Williams, Kenny Anderson, etc and so on and so on (with the exception of the lottery pick thing in some cases). The reference above was about he and Marbury not being winners. I think there is a HUGE distinction between those two guys in that regard. Jason Williams...shoot first? STRICTLY on the college level, he's not nearly the "shoot first, pass last" player that Stephon was in college. And to expand on that, look at Marbury's assist numbers now in the NBA. He's put up solid assist numbers since his second year in the league. Who knows what direction Williams will go in the league. Marbury is a great talent, but not a leader and he is not the franchise. Marbury was a dominator in college, Williams was a floor general and a leader. There are HUGE differences in my opinion in those two. All that cosmetic coincidental stuff has little to do with who is and who is not a winner.
