this must be Stern's worst nightmare. What Would Stern Do?? imo, this is when the conspiracy theories surrounding Ming become true. No way Ming goes to Memphis. So, Stern steps in and starts negotiating miracles. What will happen? Are you ready to give Stern an offer?? Let's assume all other picks fall into place.

For Golden State: Stern negotiates Memphis picking Ming and GS taking JWill, then they announce a trade: Fortson, next year's #1 and JWill for Ming and filler (like Brevin Knight) to place him in the Bay Area (GS retains Richardson and Jamison)
For Chicago: Stern negotiates Curry, Fizer and a Future #1 straight up for Ming and filler (Chicago retains the #3)
For Denver: Stern negotiates Van Exel, La Frentz and next year's #1 for Ming (Denver retains their #4 and McDyess).
For Cleveland: No Ming For You! We all know why.
For New York: Stern negotiates Ward, Shandon Anderson and NY's #7 for Ming (JWill and Dickerson need backups, I hear)
For Atlanta: No Ming For You. You had a bomb blow up at the Olympics.
For Miami: No Ming For You! Too many pastel colors in your city for the Red Army.
For Phoenix: No Ming For You! Colangelo tried really hard by championing the zone, so Stern owes him one, not to mention he gave Skiles The-Protege a job, and he conspired to banish Starbury to the West, but Colangelo still has that problem with the name of his stadium that the Red Army cannot stomach--"America West."
For Washington: Stern and China both r.e.a.l.l.y. want Ming in our nation's capitol, so he negotiates the #11th pick straight up for Ming; Bush offers Taiwan as a kicker for 10% ownership of the team, and, in exchange, the owner of Memphis gets 1 billion free sweatshop workers, and future rights to all their First Round Sons.
For LA Clipper: Stern negotiates Odom, Kandi, and Maurice Taylor, and a Future #1 and the #12, then changes the trade rules to make it legal!
We assume Stern's conspiracies can't achieve anything else
Question Are you going to try to beat those offers? (Some of which are serious, really) What would you offer with a #5 and $15 in hand? Nothing...Something token like KT and both Picks...or Something major like Stern trading Rudy's two titles, Dream's Hall of Fame Rights, and Moochie for Ming??
You all obviously know nothing of Stern's powers of conspiracy. all this dreamcasting every year... and no one wants to do the hardest X-File, where Memphis lands the Top Pick and Stern is desparate for a trade that he will make miracles happen! btw: here's mine for starters: I'd trade Francis, Mobley and our #15 for Memphis's Top Pick and Pau Gasol. I'd rely on Stern to make it happen, adding filler where necessary!!! I'd get: Ming Griffin Gasol Wagner, JWill, or Woods MCE In the meantime, Fran Blinebury will fall into hibernation from boredom; Dale will think about getting a haircut; tpl and aelliott will sit there...pondering starting a thread of denial; rimbaud will try to antagonize me; BGM will make a wise crack; CriscoKidd and DoD will shake their heads; DaDakota will post more bbs logic threads!!!!!!; Caveman will miss out while stalking his New Age, Slick Homo Sapien lover-Pat Riley; Rockets03 will lose his mind; RocketKid will continue fantacizing about DiSeAsEd MoNkEy; and oeilpere will scoop it. and Red Auerbach will take a puff through his smile.
don't worry, NugzFan, I know you guys have been confused ever since the trade. You have no trade bait for Ming, so I was just making fun of you, again.
my x-file trade for ya: #15 + KT to SEA for Lewis + SEA 1st rounder (~#20). This trade will only happen in an x-file league. # 5 + Cat to Griz for #1 This trade could work in the real world with the right filler. #1 - Ming #20 - Smush Parker. Have no idea about him as a player, but i just love the name "Smush". Deserves starting minutes in my x-file team solely based on his name (he's also a 6'4" PG. Ranked in the top 30 college players for the draft so not too silly a pick) starting 5: PG: Smush Parker (R) SG: Francis SF: Lewis PF: Griffen C: Ming (R) Might not win, but would form the backbone of the 1st All-Bizarre-Name team, one of the highest post-season awards in this league HP does not have exclusive license over silliness
Sounds like HeyP needs a "timeout." Or a name change... BTW, all this talk of conspiracy is moot. The NBA lottery was already conducted/fixed a month ago in an old abandoned warehouse in Newark. The Knicks got #1, followed by Washington and then Chicago. Knicks took Ming, Wizards grabbed JWill, and Chicago nabbed Wagner, thereby ensuring the league thrives in these key target markets. What about the Rockets, you ask? With the 6th pick, they traded it to Seattle for Rashard Lewis. Stern felt it necessary for the prodigal son to return to Houston to ignite fan attendance. Peeking at Stern's top-secret files, I noticed that the Rockets are currently slated to win the NBA Championship again in 2009. That is, unless the aliens living in secret among us don't decide to pull a worldwide coup and force humanity to toil in the salt mines...
You forgot all about Calvin Murphy's wardrobe. We could throw that in as well. So, it's a conspiracy you want? I've got a counter conspiracy for you. After Stern negotiated the deal for New York, Carroll Dawson called a press conference to announce that the Rockets had just acquired Ming (thanks to Stern's underhanded negotiation tactics) & pulled out the trade agreement, between Houston, Dallas, & New York, that sent Rice to Houston in exchange for Shandon & the trade exception. Apparently, New York's GM didn't read the ammended trade agreement (in regards to future considerations for Rice's injury) closely enough, & thinking it was for cash considerations only, overlooked the line that gave Houston the right to swap one player of Houston's choosing (signed or not) with New york after the 2002 draft. CD stated at the press conference that the Rockets would be sending Rice back to New York, in exchange for Ming. When informed of the trade agreement, Stern promptly punched a nearby reporter in the face & stormed out of the conference room. Five minutes after CD's press conference, Scott Layden was seen carrying his personal belongings out the door with what appeared to be James Dolan's foot hanging out of his a**.
I find it amazing that given the number of people who "abuse" the Rox management there are only 3 other "final fantasy" teams put forward by posters. C'mon people, use your imagination (and all that free time since we're not in the playoffs)!!! You have the #1 pick and a chance to "show" the "idiots" CD & RT what they should really do to improve the ROX. Put your money where you mouth is. You can actually be as extreme (as was HP's idea of trading Steve & Cat) or silly as you want (let's hear it again for Smush Parker). No draft news... no playoffs... i need something to keep me entertained (apart from watching tapes of the ROX sweeping the Magic in one of the greatest ever playoff runs/performances ) I would like to see if any of the trades/picks created actually occur. Let's use our brains for the benefit of all the other bored posters
We want the #2 pick. If we get Ming, that's great. If we don't, there are 2 scenarios: 1) Jason Williams to Seattle in a 3-way, Payton on his way out. We get Lewis for Williams and Rice. 2) Williams,#15 and Rice to Clipps for Odom and next year's #1. Clipps: Kandi/draft pick Brand Miles/Rice Q-Rich/Piatowski Williams/Mcinnis
After reading Gators thread about McDyess I click on this thread. Is this what the off season offers? Heypee you just made my head hurt.
