What the hell is a cap? I sort of know what caps are. I think it has to do something with International play. Somebody tell me. Thanks.

That's what people pop in their domes at halftime, rather than dying from boredom from actually watching a whole game

You are correct. According to the website below:
Cap- a recognition earned by a player for each appearance in an international game for his country.

BTW I knew very little about soccer before I joined Heaths soccer sim. Now I know all kinds of useless soccer information.

A long time ago (in a galaxy far far away...) soccer players literally got a cap for each appearance in an international match. Now they don't actually get a cap, but saying they have X amount of caps lets you know how many times they've appeared in an international match.

How good do you think the U.S. team is?

I wish Preki was on the team. He has a knack for scoring.

Well, all sports can't be as exciting to watch as baseball and golf now can they :p

Legend also has it that Rugby was born when a player picked up the ball during a soccer game and ran it into the goal. His coach called it a good 'try'

'Soccer' is actually the slang term given to 'association football' which is the proper name of the sport.

US will not get past the group stage. US folds like a cheap tent overseas.

i don't want to be tasteless, but after September 11th, they're gonna win it all.

    But this is reality.

They'll make it out of the first round, try to find some gimmick or story, and make it all big, and then get bounced in the knockout round.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't like any sport where the final outcome can be a tie. The number of shutouts and the lack of scoring in general also makes it boring. This is the same reason I don't like hockey, but it is a little better than soccer because the goals are not so FAAAAAAAAAAAR apart.

I will not be be brainwashed. I will not be brainwashed.

It's the only explanation I can think of for the histerical following that soccer gets in the rest of the world. Beware America - it will start harmlessly enough, but pretty soon it gets out of hand. All other sports are relegated to minor league status, and all you get is 3 or 4 different soccer competitions, all containing basically the same teams, playing all year round.
