Heat rumor The hot story here in Miami is that Marion and Marcus Banks are going to either Toronto for O'Neal or to Sactown for Kevin Martin. No Link just heard it on the radio here in Miami. I have no idea what the contracts looks like, but it seems like the O'Neal trade is the one that is most likely to happen.
Kevin Martin is not going anywhere. Hes the face of the Kings. Not to mention the player theyre trying to build around
The Sacramento trade is insane for the Kings and the Purple Dinosaur's trade would be insane for the Heat. No way Riles would take on JO's contract without getting Bargnani in return.
If that miami trade goes down in a round about way they would have traded shaq oneal for jermaine oneal. I guess that raises the question at this stage of there careers who would you rather have. if i had to choose I would choose shaq.
Marion & Banks up for Martin doesnt work in a trade. If there's any validity there's gotta be additional players linked in What would Sacramento be thinking, deal Martin just to hopefully get something better in 2010? They already have Brad Miller expiring.
well in miami's defense everyone thought marion was going to opt out of his contract last season as he kept saying but then probably realized he wasnt going to get nearly the same amount of money and decided to stay on
JO's contract is ending this summer, like marion's. it's a few million larger though, which allows riley to essentially dump bank's contract. while it's a downgrade in talent, it makes room for beasley and provides desperately needed size.
No. JO's salary next season is $23 million. He is one of the most untradeable players in the NBA. The Purple Dinosaurs will have to give up a pound of flesh if they expect another team to accept him in a trade. Before you or someone else replies, I know about 2010. I still think JO is virtually untradeable, for now. NEXT January/February will be a different story. Every team ready to give up on the 09 season will want him then.
http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56608/20090115/marions_agent_gauging_interest_in_client/ Shawn Marion's agent constantly is talking with management from other teams, attempting to gauge their interest in his client. The Heat's goal in moving Marion is to get back a quality big man with a contract that expires in the 2010 offseason. Sacramento's Brad Miller, Los Angeles' Marcus Camby and Toronto's Jermaine O'Neal are the three names that fit the bill best, according to the Miami Herald. Via Miami Herald
Technically, you're both right. JO's deal is up this season, but O'neal has a player option for the 2009-10 season. Since he'd be an idiot to turn down $23M next season, it's tantamount to the deal just going straight through until 2010.
this deal works out for the raptors since we need a good swingman as for the heat..have fun with oneal! anyways the heat could develop beasley more without marion bein there..
Sacramento isn't getting Martin unless they get Beasley. IMO the Raptors won't deal Bargnani and wont have to in order to get rid of O'Neal. My gut tells me maybe Marion, Wright, and picks for Brand, Marshall, and whatever other filler it takes to make it work.
