Many years provided his fg% can improve to over 45%.

Hardly any if the coach still allows him to take so many bad shots.

Every champtionship contender must have a decent point guard to control game flow especially during playoff time when every possession is important. As at now, Rafer is not a decent PG. In fact, he's one of the worst starting PGs of NBA.

Its frustrating to see Rafer's boneheaded plays which occurred so often in 4th quarters which has been killing the team's momentum. Everytime I see him dribbling and throwing up those teardrops, I know its a 90% turnover.

Coach RA must do something to rectify that situation, and do it fast.

Exactly. So he should stop taking all the crunch-time shots like he's the fuc*ing man.

If McGrady somehow returns to form when he comes back, this should be our new starting lineup:

    Brooks
    McGrady
    Artest
    Scola
    Yao

with Alston, Wafer, Barry and Landry coming off the bench. Deke and Hayes get minutes as needed.

Head, Battier and Alston are trade bait to either acquire a better PG or to address frontcourt needs.

I'm not sold on Brooks being starter material, but I AM SOLD ON RAFER NOT BEING STARTER MATERIAL.

You aren't risking anything by promoting Brooks to the starting role. Rafer just isn't good enough for that to be the case. The value of making this PG change sooner than later is that you find out a little bit more about what Brooks can do. If he steps up, you let him run with the starting job for the rest of the season. If he struggles, you can always go back to Rafer. The bottom line is that you learn more about Brooks and where he fits in for next season as well as what you need to do to address PG needs over the summer. We know Alston's ceiling. He was a bad NBA PG at his peak and he's now approaching the end of his career. He won't get better and what he is now just isn't good enough to justify not letting the young gun have a go at it. If Rafer can swallow his pride, he could be a good mentor for Brooks like Cassell was for Rondo during the playoffs last season. He is a coach in the offseason so he should draw from that experience to help Brooks' development.

If we get championship I dont think Rafer is one of the roster members, hes not well doing, Adelman need to limit Rafer's shooting attempts, his shooting percentage is horrible, too low as to a guard.

I don't want Rafer as our playermaker, It's just getting pathetic.

To be honest, it's pathetic to say, that I'll rather have Brooks as our PG and the current half broken McGrady as our main playmaker than to ever have Rafer make the decisions on the court.

I rarely swear, but he can't pass for **** when it counts. Except for one or two AND 1 street ball passes that are no better than regular passes (unlike the Steve nash style trick passes). It doesn't take double teams to be a good passer, it just takes drawing defense.

I've said it many times, Brooks is already learning to draw defense, and he is learning to exploit that. No one is asking Rafer to pass like McGrady in his absense (not that he ever would), it's just about making passes that counts and that benefits the team.

I can't imagine what our team will be like if McGrady's playmaker skills were at Rafer's level for the past few years.

That being said, I'm going to say 1, and ironically I'm being optimistic. I believe if our team is healthy rafer is not necessary since a healthy McGrady could easily replace his role. Though it's only a matter of time before Rafer gets exploited.

He's going to lead us to a 3 peat 3 peat... yes 9 in a row baby! Even into his 40's he will be winning his 6th or 7th MVP. Jordan is soon to be an afterthought.

I think this is the funniest quote in the history of ClutchFans. In fact, I think I'm changing my sig. Again. Sorry, tinman.

And I'm not even a Rafer hater.

LOL. So true. I'm almost to a point where I rather have someone take a contested jumper than Rafer shooting an open jumper or attempting to drive the lane for one of his turrible floaters (Yea, its turrible).
