Jermaine is absolutely destroying him and the rest of the Nets almost single-handedly in the first half. This is one of the best non-Shaq big man performances I've seen in quite some time.

Martin is overrated as hell. He beat up on chumps from C-USA at Cincy, and now he only beats on the chumps from the East. O'Neal took his lunch money today.

After seeing this game, I wished I would've picked Indy in my thread now. Maybe I'll have a team to follow in the playoffs after all. :)

You guys act like Jermaine O'Neal is some chump or something. Barkley used to destroy Malone on a regular basis in the 80s and early 90s, and we know what Dream did to David Robinson. As for Kenyon beating up on chumps in C-USA, other players from that league include, Nick Van Exel, Ruben Patterson, Quentin Richardson, Steve Hunter, Larry Hughes, Kenny Satterfield, Dermarr Johnson, Penny Hardaway, Rodney White, Danny Fortson, Lorenzen White, Samaki Walker, etc., etc. I don't think conferences have a thing to do with a guy's play in the NBA, and I'd sure love to have Kenyon Martin on the Rockets!

I knew it I knew it I knew it.

The Nets might be good, but they're vastly inexperienced in a playoff atmosphere. Indiana will take the series, becoming only the second 8th seed in NBA to ever do so. J'Neal is a beast. I hope Portland feels like dumbasses right now and I hope they get whipped by LA.

3rd team. Denver and Knicks already did it.

The year they made the Finals (99). They were the 8 seed, and beat top seeded Miami in game 5 on an Allan Houston runner in the final seconds.

PLayoff experience does play a role, but it isn't what keeps a 1 seed from beating an 8 seed that backed their way into the playoffs. Even with playoff experience I don't see the Nets going to far in the "second season". They lack any significant interior presence (as this thread points out) and just as importantly in the playoffs, where games are tight, they lack any significant go to performer.

In terms of style of play, I think the Kings and Mavs may be most similar to the Nets, but the Kings have an inside presence in Webber (whether or not they have anyone who can step up to the plate come crunch time - can Webber do it? - may be their downfall this year) and the Mavs seem to have a number of players willing to take and hit the big shot (Nowitski, Nash, Van Exel, etc).

I don't understand the Martin mystique. The man put up 5 rebounds per game and is considered a power player just because he likes to be a thug. Hell, Mo T puts up better rebounding numbers than Martin...and is a better offensive player. But MoT is soft and Martin is power. Oh yeah, don't forget Martin's 1.3 blocks per. Superstar.

    Nugz,

Dice could beat Martin from the IR.

I think that Kenyon is more of a SF then a PF, but Kenyon is more a defensive force while Mo is more of an offensive force. Either way Kenyon Martin just toyed with Jermaine O'Neal tonight dropping 19 on him and holding him to a paltry 12 points. This is after scoring 15 and bringing down 13 the other night. Personally I think Kenyon will develop into a force, this is only his 2nd year in the league and first in the playoffs, and he's averaging 17 ppg there. I think Mo will do pretty much the same for the Rocks.

By the way here is Kenyon Martin's numbers in his first trip to the playoffs:

    17 ppg 9 rpg 2 apg 1 bpg

    I'd take that.

Jigga i for real hope you aint asian yo. cause i bet your ass da funniest lookin homey in real life yo.

As for K-Mart, he is a product of Kidd and the system. He is not someone who could take over a game by himself. I would freakin average 10 ppg if Kidd was my pg.

Oneal is not a product of the system. He is actually someone you could build a team around. So dont even go around trying to compare that cheap ass to Oneal. Even the Nets wouldnt think twice before trading K-mart for Jermaine Oneal.
