I dont think I heard the name Yao Ming one time in this interview.

As he usually does, Aldridge spoke very confidentally speculative.

He didnt say ANYTHING AT ALL about Yao, but he spoke like he just walked out the Rockets training facility, talking about McGrady as though he's been traveling with the team the past 2 seasons.

McGrady isn't getting traded. But that doesn't mean they're gonna fully play him either. Get Ron Artest back healthy first, then deal with McGrady is what I got out of it.

I'm talking about David Aldridge, he didn't bring anything new to the table all speculation and the most important thing the "Yao wanting T-Mac out" he completely dodge it.

That why I can be a reporter too.

Just speculate and write columns while collecting a nice paycheck.

and if johnson resigns in atlanta? wade in miami or chicago? lebron in cleveland or ny? bosh in detroit, new york, etc..?

we will be left sifting through the rip hamiltons and michael redds of the league... that's not to say those aren't very good pieces, but it's about the same B or C level talent we could get by trading tmac this summer. in fact, we wouldn't have to put up with him for another year, and waste another year of yao's career.

Of course, there is a big risk of not ending up with a top player. But if you have, say, a combined 20% chance of getting one of Lebron James, Wade, Johnson or Bosh, you have to give it a hot.

At least he has one. I'm not going to hire a cook to do my surgery. Why should we employ you as a journalist?

Also, everybody thinks that everybody else's job is soooooo easy...

I think I rather have David Aldridge on No Layups, but then again, RJ is well respected by his colleagues and this respect may be the reason they got Aldridge to do an interview in the first place. I just think with good friends its difficult ask difficult questions.

I'm not saying the job is easy, but this speculation is just bad.

I'm not saying I can do better. I'm saying I can't do no worse.

Maybe he have been doing a great job in the past but just like him there is a lot of reporter/analyst that speculate like crazy and come with the most non sense trades rumors, inside reports etc. That nonsense sensationalism reports with no facts is killing me and is garbage reporting.

i see your point. i don't think either option (trading his ending contract / letting it expire) is wrong. striking out in 2010 would be basically wasting yao's career. i would rather know for sure that we get something for him.

there should be very good players available for trade in summer of '09. lots of teams will want to clear $20M in order to buy a ticket to the lebron lotto.

here are some players who are under contract through 2010 AND are on teams who are not currently on track to be under the cap that summer (meaning trading them for tmac's ending buys them a lebron lotto ticket):

    Gilbert Arenas
    Caron Butler
    Josh Smith
    Gerald Wallace
    Kirk Hinrich
    Michael Redd
    Andre Iguodala
    Vince Carter
    Stephen Jackson
    Antawn Jamison
    Richard Jefferson
    Corey Maggetty
