It's not Rafer's fault. Defenses just let him shoot. When you see Rafer having the ball all alone unguarded, you know we are in trouble.
arghhh! why do we continue to debate this? the Reefer Madness must end. Trade him for a bag of chips, or oreos if necessary, and be done with this debacle, ok? It is never going to work with Reefer, and why so many are in denial is beyond me. This has been apparent for years now.
didnt we see what happened with brooks? he's not ready.....we're down by 3 and he dribble in, and passes to yao with 3 seconds left? he should've shot it, or dribble back behind the line
Actually both, Rafer and Aaron (suprise) struggled badly in that LA game, but still, if Rafer takes as many shots as he does you know something's wrong... I am sick of his floaters and jumpers. This guy shouldn't be allowed to shoot more than 5 times a game. One thing he can do is to run the offense. That's all.
Define run the offense. I've said before that Rafer cannot run the offense. The only reason it appears that he could is because the past few years he has always been with McGrady. Guess what Rafer likes to do? Dribble the ball up court, and chuck it to McGrady and let him do the rest. The healthy McGrady will get the job done, but the unhealthy McGrady exposes Rafer entirely. With McGrady's absense, Rafer is clueless. I've seen the games, and I can tell the only offense Rafer can run is pass the ball to Yao. In crunch time, with McGrady's absense, time and time again we see Rafer forcing the ball to Yao. Rafer cannot run the offense, he lives off Yao's paint points by giving it to him every time.
You have speak out what I want to say, thank you! His terrible shooting rate and too many shooting attempts. Lastnight we still have chance to have overtime, we can also beat lakers, damn guy, he missed last two free throws leaded our loss at home.. Bench him, or trade him for some better guy. Now tmac is sitting out for 2 weeks, I always reguard Rafer and tmac as our biggest problems. career about 79% of free throw, but he missed both last and most important fts, lower than 40% of fgs. How come. damn guy lead us the 16th loss this season..
I don't understand how your a PG in the NBA and can't hit wide open shots, and to top it off can't make a teardrop, or layup, to save your life. I've been saying this for sometime now, Rafer needs to go.
I watch a ton of NBA basketball. No other major-minutes rotation guard in the NBA is more disrespected by defenses than Rafer. No other player has more WIIIIIIDE open looks each and every game than Rafer and accomplishes so little with them. For him to shoot 35.2%/33.6% with those kinds of looks is disgraceful. Morey, if you read this, pleeeeease make a trade for another PG. End the Rafer era on the Houston Rockets. He's performing at the level of a D-league guard and is killing the team. Just because the Rockets have injury problems is no excuse not the address to biggest need on the team.
He is like Chuck Hayes on offense, except he has the ball in his hands and gets to chose when to shoot. When Wafer was on fire last night, yet our last shot in the 3rd quarter was Alston waving everyone off and creating for himself, I was NEVER more sure that this idiot has to go. Let AB start, let barry back him up. Either of these players would make better entry passer to Yao in the post, and they can both hand the ball to T-Mac. That pretty much covers Rafers "abilities" to "run the offense". 4 on 5 offense is never gonna work and we need to move away from Rafer ASAP.
To be fair, I think he can run the offense... whenever the opposing defense forgets to leave him open. You see, he is a decent passer. He is a great ball handler. So the best scenario is that the opponent guard him tight. With his handle and decent court vision, he can put the ball into the right teammate's hand without turning the ball over. BUT, when the opponent remembers that he should stay off Rafer. Cut his passing lane, then Rafer has no other option but to shoot. The most horrifying scene of the Rockets offense is seeing Rafer Alston having the ball all alone inside the paint.
And Rafer will read this post and go on an incredible hot streak where he shoots 60% from the three point line. I don't know how he can be so bad and then turn it on and become torrid (about three or four times a season). Remember how good he was during a part of the 22 game streak? But the career stats tell the truth. On the other hand, he is probably untradeable. Who wants him? As I have said before, he does not start for any other team in the NBA.
Rafer was so clutch last night...The lakers couldnt have asked for a better 4th quarter performance from him
I said this in another thread but rondo didnt shoot last year and they did fine, so maybe rafer needs to become like rondo and learn that he just cannot shoot
yeah but rondo can get into the lane much easier than rafer and can finish 1000x better. if you look at the way rafer shoots the ball its just soo fundamentally wrong its like he swings the the ball up from his hip whereas almost every other player in the league has a straight up and down motion. rafer needs to the backup pg on this team despite brooks poor 2-10 shooting last night he should have played closer to 30 minutes instead of 20. basically whenever fisher was in the game brooks should have been in the game instead of rafer. sigh and everyone here hated JVG for his trust in Rafer, adeleman is no different in fact is worse, at least with JVG all that rafer was allowed to shoot were open 3s and nothing else. adeleman's offense requires rafer to do a lot more which is just exposing him completely.
?????....Did you not watch the boston game?..He is ready..adelman is dazzeled by rafer's brickology for some reason
