I don't have any idea one way or the other. When I look at T-Mac though I just get a hunch that maybe he's got some issues. Also, he does seem pretty flaky a lot of the time.
T-Mac's a loser because his heart and will are questionable. He's a loser because he's flaking out on the Rockets. He's a loser because the Rockets are going to be the third team he's flaked out on in his career. He's a loser because he's a head case. Morey and Adelman had to drag him into the principal's office, shut the door, and talk to him about playing with effort and consistency. Does that sound like a winner to you? There are reports that the other Rockets are making jokes about the guy. Does that sound like a winner to you? The Rockets just told him to take a hike for a couple of weeks so that he can try and get his act together. Does that sound like a winner to you? And there is a big difference between getting deep in the playoffs and never getting past the first round.
I've got to say that as of right now TRACY is definitely NOT a winner if looking at his career. Tracy doesn't even want to go out this way. Look at his blog.
T-Mac's been dragged into the principal's office for a scolding. Yao hasn't. The Rockets told T-Mac to take a couple of weeks off to get his act together. That hasn't happened with Yao. What makes T-Mac a loser is his refusal to take responsibility and play hard. How is it that a guy making $21 million a year needs to be told by his team that he has to get his act together? Yao plays hard no matter what. That's why I classify T-Mac as a loser and not Yao.
Why did this failed attempt at humor require it's own thread? Do we not have enough T-Mac bashing threads? I am just as frustrated with T-Mac but it's getting ridiculous to see the GARM flooded with crap threads.
Can you quote those line where it states that he was dragged in the office and his team mates making fun of him?
No. Adelman and Morey had to drag T-Mac into the principal's office to talk to him about playing with effort and consistency. The other Rockets confronted him about playing with effort and consistency. The other Rockets called him out in public. He takes off two weeks without telling the team first. Now the team's telling him to take two weeks off to get his act together. He's acting like a total head case. He's acting like a total flake. That's why he's a loser.
The Chronicle reported McGrady was having closed door meetings with Adelman and Morey about playing with effort. Fran Blinebury reported in his blog that the other Rockets were mocking McGrady, and Doc Rocket on this board confirmed that.
Im not saying Mcgrady has been good this year but you can spin things anyway you want. The chronicle article mentions that during a regular meeting that Morey and Adelman had, they talked to Tmac about when he plays he has to play harder. It wasnt like there was some secret, Tmac report to the principle's office meeting where they scolded him for two hours. As for the Blinebury thing, you cant believe anything he says. He mentions a player saying something about a cointoss and whether or not they will play. Doesnt mention context or whether they were serious or not. I bet somewhere along the lines someone has said something about Yao being slow, or Rafer not shooting well. Hell, you could even spin what Yao said about Artest when he first got traded here into some big thing, ie: " An annonymous rockets player stated with concern, I hope he is done fighting people in the stands". Or you can bash Yao about how the Olympics were more important to him then the Rox playoff push. Lastly, I will ask you if you think Stevie Francis is a basketball failure. He wrecked the Grizzlies without ever even playing a game for them. He quit on the Magic and demanded out. He was a bum for the Knicks. And above it all he has less playoff success and far worse individual success then Tmac.
It doesn't matter what type of meeting it was--the coach and GM had to sit McGrady down and tell him to play hard. Does that sound like a winner to you? Now they've told him to take a hike for two weeks to get his act together. If you don't want to believe Blinebury take a look at Artest's comments after the Celtics game where he basically came out and said that T-Mac needs to play hard instead of coasting. Yeah, I'd say that Francis had a regrettable career. Too bad, considering his obvious love for the game and his heart.
i hate to break the news to all the Tmac fans, but I think the Tmac era is coming to an end. I hope things work out but with all the noise coming out, the writing is basically on the wall. Look like his legacy lasted only 35 seconds long.
