A relative of mine is looking to design a simple website to promote her books. I volunteered, but then she mentioned that she wanted a way to sell her books through her website (i.e. a cart system), which is something I have no experience with.

I know alot of you guys on here do free-lance stuff. If interested in this project, please email me at costilwell@gmail.com for details. Would like to put you into contact directly with her.

    Thanks.

    no it isn't.

people who pay me through google don't have any barriers to go through... just have to have a CC to pay with

Only the seller needs an account. Buyer just needs a credit card.

Nope. They can sign in and pay using their Paypal funds...but if they don't have an account they can pay with their Credit Card.

i did 2 ecommerce sites using zen-cart (free download). the following is for zen-cart or ocommerce.

1.) set up zen-cart and use the basic credit card function. they will enter their credit card info and half of the number will be posted to the admin account and half of it emailed to you. you need a point of sales system set up so you can manually enter the numbers.

2.) to have customers pay directly into the bank account using credit cards, go to you bank and ask for a merchant account. tell them you're setting up an e-commerce website. they'll give you a php module that plugs into zen-cart. you do have to pay an initial and a transaction fee.

3.) use third party merchants like pay-pal or google checkout.

oh, if you don't know php, i would highly recommend hiring a web cgi programmer (not designer).
