Before you go off on the deep end and we derail this thread, Let me explain something about being limited. I don't mean limited in terms of chuck hayes, I mean limited in terms of use and style. There is only 1 place yao is effective and that low blks. There are only a couple sets a team can use Yao. There is only a certain amount of time you can use yao. So if I'm a premier wing like JJ,Wade, or Lebron and I know the team is focused on getting yao the ball all the time in the post because if not he will get tired and become useless, that's something to think about. Whereas if Yao had the knock down 15 ft shot, or had incredible or good stamina, it would be different. That is something to ponder. Even if a guy like bosh, he would have to acept the fact that yao is always on the low blocks. Its kinda what Amare is going through with shaq. What's helping him now is shaq attracts so much attention and is more mobile even now, he can run a pick and roll and make something happen. There is a big difference.
I think this may be the first time in a very (and I do stress the very) long time I have seen a good post by you! <br> Not only was it good, but extremely agreeable! Nice job DD
I get stuck sometimes, and have to hit ALT+F4..... In reality I am a very reasonable guy, opinionated for sure, but I do see others points and opinions. DD
Hell no, do NOT trade artest, he is a very good bench player and fits well with the system coming off the bench. We do need to get a good PG though, we could trade head and someone else for one, but not artest.
here's what the problem is. Adelman needs wings who can cut, move without the ball, and spot up shoot. That's IT. Penetrating is a plus. T-Mac is the exact opposite of an ideal Adelman wing. He can't cut, move w/o the ball, or spot up shoot. In fact, I don't know what the hell his strenghts are....besides "playmaking". Combined with the fact that he NEVER runs down court, you have a complete contrast in styles between the coach and player. If we had a wing like Corey Magette, Joe Johnson or even Rudy Gay, a prototypical wing who can shoot and slash, we'd be that much better. Just look at how Von Wafer excels as he's our only wing who can shoot and slash. Ginobili would also fit well. But alas, we have T-Mac who would rather work on his batter's swing than work on his jumpshot. Adelman or T-Mac, one of them has to go.
We shouldn't be thinking of trading Tmac since his contract comes off the books in 10 and with that cap space we should look to sign a younger all star calliber player.
1. Adelman stays so now it's time to play the guys who fit his offense and make a move to get rid of those who will not 2. Continue to allow Wafer to gain experience/confidence (and improve his d) 3. Same for Brooks and if another PG who can shoot is not added then Brooks needs to take more of Rafer's minutes 4. Chuck needs more minutes on nights when Landry and Scola are not scoring. He seems to be the forgotten man even on nights when Scola and especially Landry are stinking it up offensively and getting killed on the defensive end. I'm really buying into these younger guys getting more time. They run the offense, love to push the ball on the break, scrap hard every play and have the athletic ability to finish plays. Brooks, Wafer, Alston (he isn't young but he is an up tempo player) Landry are getting it done and they are a blast to watch.
Well, DD you have certainly done a 180 on some of your previous extreme opinions, but in this case I think you wrote a very reasonable and well thought out post. Thank you for putting aside the knee-jerks and having some perspective. It seems some others are still having trouble doing this.
That would require a serious revision of whatever hopes we had for the postseason. The idea that the Rockets are title contenders is predicated on the idea of McGrady playing at a high level. Von Wafer may be playing better than McGrady, but we really do need TMac to play like a superstar if we want to advance in the playoffs.
Patience, none of my opinions have changed, but what I wanted to do was put some time into thinking less about the reasons for Tmac not playing etc....and more about..."Ok, it is what it is" what can we do about it, for the good of the team. DD
Should T-Mac decides to play again, then slowly bring him into the rotation. I am sure there is enough time for him to form some chemistry with the team before post season.
Completely agree. I've posted this before, but for the McGrady and Yao tandem, this may be their best chance at postseason success, and perhaps even their last. We've watched as the organization spent over four years to get to this point, to bring in the necessary complementary pieces. I really hope our stars realize what an investment it has been for the organization and for the fans, and are doing everything they can to make this work.
