Chaney is more knowledgeable than Clyde. Clyde loses credibility when he over exaggerates on how great some players are. For instance, the “Rafer is a great shooter” or “rafer has one of the best floaters in the league” comments are irritating. However, he is a lot more entertaining than Chaney.
The word horrible can be a relative term. My definition of horrible, starts with the name Cynthia Cooper. Whenever Clyde starts to irritate me, I think of Cynthia Cooper and then all the irritation magically goes away.
Wait a minute, so the Rockets have a new commentator, right? Is he doing home or road games. I haven't had a chance to listen to him, cause I don't have LP. Is he good?
Chaney isn't a new commentator, but he joined Bill and Matt for one game. I DVR'd the game and probably skipped over the explanation, but I believe it was because the Fox Sports pre/half/post game shows are in transition, moving to the Houston studio from Dallas.
Clyde's a fairly crummy commentator, but not necessarily worse than a lot of the guys out there. We were spoiled by Calvin. Sure, Drexler is better than Cooper, but she never should have been retained beyond her first game - she was a trainwreck. Bullard's very good, though obviously not in JVG's league. Chaney...I don't really listen to all that much, but I'll try and pay more attention. Evan
it could be the poor sound quality of my video stream or my bad language skills but i could barely understand what chaney was talking about. and btw, yes, bill is getting worse at the same rate as clyde is getting better. well, at least home games are watchable now with things evened out a little. i'll always look forward to away games, though, because bull is my favorite commentator right after jvg. bull rules!
Don ("no question about it") Chaney is arguably, maybe slightly better than Clyde, who is awful and really adds nothing. That's damning with feint praise D R
i liked listening to Don. He was a coach right? I kinda like him saying things from a coach's perspective. i think the commentators should have at least one ex-coach among them. we keep hearing the commentators working the players but no one mentions a thing about the coaching. i want the commentators to be critical about the coaching as well: substitutions, plays, etc.
