Who will make INSTANT IMPACT

Absolutely Ming. However, of the other merely mortal draft choices, I think Dajuan Wagner will make the most impact because he is an unconscious Iverson-type shooter / scorer. He will go to a team like Golden State, Chicago, Memphis or Denver, all of whom will give him a green light to shoot and shoot and shoot.

I hope you guys are right (at least if the Rocks somehow land Ming), but I'm inclined to disagree unless he lives up to all the hype. Don't forget that he'll still be a rookie and will need time to get used to NBA basketball. Consider that it took Nowitzki some time before he took off.

 

I do not think it will take Ming too long to adjust to NBA play. He had been playing pro ball for 7 years in Chinese league and totally dominated the league this year, averaging 42 points and 21 rebounds in the Finals to help Shanghai Sharks to its first Championship. He will most likely be #1 in the draft to a lucky team. I heard he is coming to Chicago for a workout to all lottery teams on April 26. Maybe we will see how good he is then.

 

I hope when Ming comes that he punches an assistant coach. Maybe then he'll drop to us.

 

Ming will take a long time to develop.

Jason Williams is the instant impact guy. The best off-the-dribble shooter in the draft, and the best finishing PG in the draft. There is no flaw in his offensive game, except for shot selection.

J-Will will get at least 15 ppg, to go along with 6 dimes.

 

Ming dominated C-H-I-N-E-S-E competition. There's NO way he will have the same type of impact, right off the bat, for any NBA team. Granted, he's 7'6", which is quite an advantage over most centers in the league, but he's still thin. He also doesn't know how to play the game yet. The Sharks of what, Shanghai, just threw him the ball down low and let him reach up to throw it in the basket, from what I've heard. Plus, it will take him some time to condition himself to the vigorous schedule and style of play in the NBA. finally, does Ming speak a lick of English? Probablly not much. So won't it be a problem for coaches and his coaching if he can't learn the fundementals of a team or the game. I'm sure a translator could be used, however, even then, it would still be a long, slow learning process. I just hope I'm right, unless the Rockets get the #1 pick and draft him.....then I will revoke what I have just said.

 

Williams or Butler. These 2 are even physically ready to compete.

Ming may not even start his rookie year, even if he's a Rocket.
