This is the wrong logic and emotion that a lot of people follow, and it gets them in trouble. Things aren't going they way a person wants, so he assumes that change will make things better and ignores the possibility that change could be worse. In the case of McGrady, all the data seems to indicate to me that it's likely getting rid of McGrady would make things worse. The Rockets record without him is pretty terrible. He carried the team (hurt) to a 22-game win streak and the Jazz to 6 games despite no other Rockets really showing much in the series. Do you believe that President Bush caused Hurricane Katrina too? The Rockets haven't made it where we want in the last 10+ years, but it's not because of Tracy McGrady.
that's my response to typical fans' responses who love to think they know everything that goes on with the organization.
i for one suspect tracy will play better after teh all-star break, we go on a nice roll like we do every 2nd halves of every season... go into the playoffs with momentum (this time with all 3 guys "relatively" healthy, not full strength obviously). the tracy's criticisms will slow down until the results of the first round playoff series. if we lose, then game on.
That's what heppens when I'm not on the auto ignore . DD- So you were working for the loser spurs at the time and you say dream was faking the injury? If you say so, because that was when Dream was a mean sob. I guess I just need to take a break from this board for awhile. We used to talk a lot of hoops, now we talk a lot of gossip. Not only that, we have sacred cows and a board full of threads talking about 1 guy. We have a lot of new fans that may not have followed hoops a lot and I would love to try to help them understand the pro game, but it seems like tmz or papparattzi or something.
Because you have inside knowledge? And for the record, I said management "could" be covering for Ron so I don't propose to know what is going on in the organization regarding this but we all know that they have covered for McGrady for years.
It sure could be worse, but I guess that depends on the pieces you get back in a trade, or how well the team plays without him. All those things in the past are certainly to be considered, but we are not living in the past, we are living in the now, and right now, he is hurting the team by his whining, his lack of effort, his lack of doing the rehab and being ready for the season, and his lack of listening to the team, his teamates and the managment. If you honestly think Tmac is the answer, and will come back and play hard, great. Me, I don't...I believe that he is a loser, and will not come around to be part of something big, but would rather be Mr. Big himself. To me, the team is greater than the individual......I don't for one second think Tmac believes that way or he wouldn't be whining about his lack of shots, when he is the one standing at mid court...QUITTING ON HIS FRICKEN TEAMATES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DD
Leeb, I was a Sports intern at KSAT 12 in San Antonio and covered the Spurs under Larry Brown. There are no sacred cows for me, I just cheer for the good of the team.....and if Tmac has to go...so be it. DD
I'm not a doctor or anything but if someone is playing on a bad ankle and other muscles have to compensate, can that promote stress reactions/fractures? Its possible that part of the reason Ron and Shane played injured was to show McGrady, "look we're not 100% and we're playing hard". But now Ron's gotta lay off because his ankle is getting worse.
no, the doctors SAID ron can play when the injury was first diagnosed. that's why ron continued playing sporadically. if they said he could develop stress reactions, he woudl have played. like i said, ron should have sat until he was better but it was his contract year and the doctors said he could play, so obviously a guy playing for a contract would keep playing. for shane's part, please let's not get into him. his problem is the same with tracy in terms of poor rehabbing. but shane's been given a pass.
it's entirely possible that some of the fans you are mocking with comments like this really do know a lot more than you do. instead of making the assumption that others are just making things up for no good reason, perhaps it would behoove you to think about that.
sure it's possible. but it's also entirely possible that they don't know anything and are assuming a bunch of stuff. if i take that mentality, whatever the national enquirer says "could" be true too?
For those of you not giving any weight to this 'anonymous' quote.. what was Fran supposed to do? Did you want Fran to out this player? It would be impossible to go 'on the record' with that kind of statement.
The spurs are no closer this year to beating than last yr. The jazz are a better team, but with no shot blockers, kobe will avg 30 again. The hornets got posey for toughness and it helps, but the lakers have manhandled them. The rox are too small and unhealthy. Yeah someone might win 1 game or maybe 2, but there isn't a team that will go into la and win a game 7 as they're currently constructed. I hate to be right, but I'm just truthful. If the rox play anyone else in the west, they have a good chance except utah. If the rox play La, its the 90's version of playing the sonics.
um did you hear what artest said about tracy? i think that was more damning b/c he said tracy's name. fran's quote is nothing b/c we don't even know what the question is.
We used to talk a lot of hoops, now we talk a lot of gossip. We used to talk a lot of hoops, now we talk a lot of gossip. We used to talk a lot of hoops, now we talk a lot of gossip. Exactly why many of the threads on this board now are a waste of time. Some on this board are turning in to the drama queens they accuse T-Mac of being. Well, enjoy the drama.
except that the national enquirer is in the business of lying, and makes money off of publishing ridiculous things. nobody here has any reason to lie, nor does it serve to anyone's benefit to lie. it is up to each fan here to choose what to believe. but when people start insulting others and throwing around baseless accusations, with absolutely no factual information behind their statements it only makes that group of people look bad, and extremely hypocritical.
Fran, As you know, context means everything, when you said. "I'll toss a coin and let you know if I'm playing," said one Rocket, chuckling and shaking his head about 90 minutes before the Knicks' game. What context was the player referencing, what was the question asked etc. Because it could have been a joke, or something more seious, what did you think the player meant by it? Thanks, DD [No question was asked. He just said it. If you read the blog, you know that I said many players have gone beyond anger and are openly joking as a way to handle their disdain for the whole situation. --Fran]
Ron wasn't making fun of Tracy. Ron also made a completely different kind of statement, which also placed blamed on other teammates.
