you can see what you want to see. i see the doctors said he had a stress reaction. so that's an implication by fran with zero truth behind it.
Oakland A's in the 70s hated each other. Fought all the time, fistfights, too. 2 championships. Los Angeles Lakers openly warred in the press and in practice, the Shaq-Kobe version. 3 championships. Chicago Bears from '85? Yeah, like they didn't fight. There are countless other examples. Maybe if all of them are out there angry enough, they'll want to prove each other wrong and start playing like they are capable. I love Yao, but he's had games where he has played far below his capability. I love Alston, but he's been just flat-out bad. I love Artest, but are you guys going to seriously tell me he makes the best decisions with the ball, as well as defensively? (yes, he's good, but he also overreaches and puts his teammates in bad situations due to this). I'm not going to take a handful of games as an indication that all is wrong with this team. Everyone goes through bad stretches. T-Mac's had his. The team's had theirs. Everyone is watching T-Mac for every little screw-up he makes, but if you honestly, honestly watched Alston, Head, and even Artest, you'd realize that in several of those games as well as others, they've made the same mistakes. Did he quit on the team in selected games, or play below his capability? Yes. So? Y'all need to read about the things that happen on other teams- everyone from Shaq, Kobe, Howard, Stoudamire, Garnett, Pierce, Allen, Wallace, Wade, and multiple lesser others have been called into question for so-called "qutting" on the team. Happens throughout the course of the season. I swear, sometimes when I watch Yao, I almost think that he's given up on a game because he goes through bad stretches. But I know he's not like that and I know it has to do with stamina. How many times have you watched Yao and screamed "Yao, dunk that ball! Yao, stop being stripped!" "Yao, grab the damn rebound!" If you weren't a fan of the Rockets, you'd almost think he didn't try hard enough. Same with McGrady- reports of him not trying in a FEW games are accurate, but typically exaggerated on this board who ignore most of the games when he contributes significantly to wins. In spite of all this, the team has played 5-8 more road games than anyone, and with players like Battier, McGrady, and Artest missing significant games due to injuries, we're still sitting pretty good. No one's saying that Blinebury doesn't report what may be true. But stooping to calling someone a "buttercup," even quoting a song about it, is highly unprofessional and childish. He really makes me laugh. He ruins whatever credibility he has through these sophomoric rants. And he knows better.
tracy did actually have surgery over the offseason, but it was minor - just a scope. the problem is that after his surgery he did not rehab the leg, and instead took the summer off likely thinking that he would just play it back into shape when the season started. typical tracy. and now he wonders why he cant jump and has no consistency on his jump shot. earlier there was a comment about scrubs shouldnt criticize tracy because they wouldnt be in the league without him or something . . . i think thats ridiculous. just because tracy is talented does not mean he shouldnt work just like everyone else. he's supposed to be a superstar, and someone his team will look to for a big shot, leadership, passion to win. because if the rockets win a championship, it will be tracys legacy that changes, nobody will remember that chuck hayes was on the team. the story will be that tracy/yao/artest won, or that tracy/yao/artest lost. the team resents tracy because he doesnt care. he doesn't try. he doesn't lead. he doesn't work. he doesn't play well, and he's not willing to do what it takes to figure it all out.
Blinebury wrote: "They also know that McGrady's antics have had a spillover effect on Artest, who is now openly showing signs of all the things that set off alarm bells when the Rockets traded to bring him into the fold. The bet was that a strong locker room would keep Artest on the straight and narrow, playing hard. But a locker room with an atmosphere of an asylum run by one of the inmates, now has Artest less than fully committed to playing on an achy ankle as he moves closer to free agency next summer." I wrote: I could see Artest looking around the Rockets locker room and thinking "Do I really want to be here next year if I want to win a championship?" You're missing the point. Go back and read those two statements again. Concentrate on the part where Blinebury writes "...as he moves closer to free agency next summer." In other words, why kill yourself for a team which a) may not be going anywhere this year and b) might not even be your team next year?
It's absolutely amazing at all the excuses and stats that all the *** and apologise give for Tracy's actions. You guys are in such denial, Do you not watch the games and keep up with the team. The guys has been here long enough for everyone to really know what this guys is made of. He brings this team down mentally and when he's on the floor. He thinks his "skills" makes everyone around him better, but really everyone is walking on egg shells, not knowing whether he's gonna play or what kind of effort his gonna give. The basketball gods look down on those who disrespect the game and the curse of Mac, will never be lifted until we rid ourselfs of him. It's kinda a breath of fresh air, to know the Tracy era is coming to a end. Finally management is as sick of this guy as most Houstonions are. I just wonder? Why wasn't Tracy at last nights game? Maybe he's scared of what they have to say.
I agree. I never liked the idea of Ron playing on that bum ankle in the first place and I'm glad he'll be resting it and preventing further injury per the medical staff not T-Mac's attitude spilling over.
if you care to follow the team, tracy is always at the game. but he usually stays in the trainers' room to watch it (and rehab).
That quote from an anonymous Rocket could be completley off base. What if Blindbury heard a Rocket just joking about the condition of the Rockets and meant "with the way things have been goin it seems its always a coin flip as to whos in the line up". What someone says and what someone means are two different things. The media takes quotes and uses it for their purposes. We saw this with Artest's quotes after the Boston game in the Boston Herald (they left out his comments of T-Mac and made it look like he dissed Boston). The bottom line is just because someone reports something doesn't mean its necessarily true
again people, if things were this bad, tracy would be traded REALLY fast. we're not run like the knicks. we can't afford to let guys sit out games and waste money. i'm sure morey would do a trade immediately if things were so bad right now. let's see if a trade is going to happen. if tracy sticks around, well, how much of all this is true? or exaggerated by the media?
Ask him about the context in his blog...don't guess...ask. Ok, I sent him a question about context let's see if he answers in his blog. DD
Please. What's the Rockets record in the McGrady era when McGrady is out of the line-up. It's not good. In the West it's lotto time. Without Yao, Tracy carried the team last year. Some of you throw people under the bus pretty fast...
you cant trade a 21m player "REALLY fast" no matter how bad things are. unless you want to take back worse 21m players in the process. trading tracy will be incredibly difficult. he's known as an expensive, injury prone, bad attitude, selfish player at this point. other GMs arent exactly saving their cap space for someone like that. its easy to say "trade him fast" but actually doing so is quite a different story.
Five-ish years of Tmac is not tossing him under the bus pretty fast, it is slowly recognizing what he truly is, and isn't..... DD
Can someone tell me what a "stress reaction" is? I never heard of a player having a "stress reaction." It sounds like management could be covering for Ron too just like they have been for McGrady for four years.
again, read what i say again. if things WERE THAT BAD, they would trade him really fast b/c you can't trade him unless you take back bad contracts. so even if they wait, they would have to take back bad contracts anyways. so if things were that bad inside, they would do anything to get rid of the guy. OR at least suspend him or tell him to stay away from the team if tracy is really messing up the team's chemistry.
Agreed....but the fact that they had a bone scan...means they think something is either:. 1. More wrong or 2. They don't believe Ron and want to double check. Let's see what happens. DD
Which one do you want? More talent, better coaching, more experience. Did I forget better record also? Take your choice.
lol. Shin splints, stress reactions, and stress fractures are all overuse injuries of the lower leg usually associated with forceful, repetitive activities such as running or jumping. Shin splints involve pain at the front of the lower leg in the shin region. The pain is caused by an irritation of either the periosteum (the lining of the tibia, or shin bone) or the muscles and tendons in the area. A stress reaction is defined by accelerated remodeling or re-absorption of bone. A stress fracture is a small crack or cracks that occur as a result of repeated loading of the bone when muscles are fatigued. Fatigued muscles transfer more of the load to the bone. Shin splints or stress reactions can progress to stress fractures if left untreated. Stress fractures can progress to complete bone fractures if left untreated. The feet are the most common site of stress fractures in dancers, and the tibia is the most common place for stress reactions or shin splints. http://www.med.nyu.edu/hjd/harkness/patients/injuries/foot.html which meant ron should have rested for a month or so and played ZERO games. doctors being dumb as usual for the rockets.
They are beatable. They might win it all, but I'm not believing at this very time that they stand tall above all.
