I sure doesn't make the poll's outsde of Austin correct. Vince by a long shot. If you listen to the biased announcers the other night you would think Tebow walked on water and healed the blind. I'm sure now that I think about it that Jesus Christ was not on the Cross but it was instead Tim Tebow.
All HateNoCattle has a comprehension problem. Completion %, VY 65%, Tebow, 64%. Conference championship numbers Tebow: 14/22 216 yards passing, 3 TDs, no INT. 17 rushes/57 no TDs. Lead his team to 31 points, 19 first downs, 358 yards. Young: 14/17 193, 3 TDs, 1 INT. 8 rushs, 57 yards, 1 TD. Lead his team to 71 points, 26 first downs, 483 yards. National championship numbers Tebow: 18/ 30 232 yards passing, 2 TDs, 2 INTs. 22/109 no TDs. Lead his team to 24 points, 24 first downs, 480 yards. Young: 30/40 267 yards passing, no TDs, no INT. 19/200 3 TDs. Lead his team to 41 points, 30 first downs, 556 yards. And before you say, well that conference championship was against Colorado, I'll say well only one of them played an SC on a 30+ game winning streak, where every score leading to the 41 points was needed to win the game. Tebow is more "legendary", but because like Heisman trophies they are often based on perception and media. Tebow also can take his opp. to lead his team to a 2nd national title, VY could have taken a similar opp but passed on that--so that is on him. But Tebow has done nothing in one football year like VY achieved in his best--that is clear in their individual and team record and production.
You can cherry pick stats all you want, but the bottom line is that Tebow's Jr stats blow VY's out of the water, and Vince's sophomore stats were pretty average....especially compared to Tebow's. Sorry, but Tebow is the bigger legend. There's just no question.
I'd have to go with Vince. I had forgotten how dominant he was, and his performance in the championship game was simply legendary. The guy was unbelievable.
And Vince's stats in the two Rose Bowl games blow away anything that Tebow has ever put on the football field. So you are right Vince is the winner...there's just no question.
Funny to mentioned "cherry picking". Posted were all standard stats for their junior year + their complete championship games. Like I said, a comprehension problem.
