Someone's idea for a Rockets uniform I found on the net...

steddinotayto- those new ones with the old school colors are AWESOME! i'm having a hard time deciding between those and rocketeer's red one. i'd be happy if the front office took either of them.

 

Maybe this has been posted already, but why not have a CC.net sponsored uniform design competition and let the board users vote for a winner?

 

again, thanks for the kind words guys. rocketeer's design when i first saw it way back encouraged me to do my own designs. when i saw his, my jaw dropped. i thought 'man that's how it SHOULD HAVE looked'. i'm just hoping that our ideas on this board will get to the rockets office. and yep, i'm back to the drawing board.

 

i went back to the drawing boards. more tweaks than innovations. these are more of an 'official' NBA jersey with the narrow shoulder widths. i try to use that same 'rockethead' and 'fins' like the other design. i also tried this jersey with the old school colors but too much yellow ruined it.

Nice design, sted. Can you get the old school lettering from finalsbound's pic and try that? Houston on the front, slightly rising to the right above the number. Also draw in the flag/disaster/disease/whatever ribbon loop on the top left and nba logo on the top right. Also of course, I'd like to see silver in the grey.

I like this predominantly red one; is it close to the Clippers' design or no? Can anyone post it along with a picture of, say, one of the Clippers players in their predominantly red uniform?

I'll go along with almost any design because it would best the clown suit. Obviously we want to do this right. As long as we get HOUSTON on there somewhere! (Miggidy Markell, thank you for bringing that up. We gots ta get HOUSTON along with ROCKETS.)

These are perfect. I prefer the dark/light gray combo to silver myself. The only possible change that I'd give a try would be maybe outlining the lettering/number with the light gray color on the home jerseys and the dark gray color on the away.

 

I'm in love with the Championship Jerseys on our team. The message they send is "This game is so easy. Come and get me."


They look so good. Has any other team gone back to traditional championship colors?

 

Well, the pistons sort of, since they took out the green and crazy colors and stayed with the good ol' red and blue.

 

Going through this thread, this really stuck in my gut. When did it stop being Houston's Team? Players come and go, this is our team, no matter who the hell is in the jersey. I couldn't give a rat's ass what the final outcome. If you want to look in to reasons why fandom is down, and what really hurts sports, is that fans don't have anything that they can hang on to. The all mighty dollar has brough us free-agency, it has brought on the theory that new uni's are for the fan's...LOL! It's about the benjamins baby. New uni's means new sales. Although I think they are somewhat off. I buy new team merchandise when I want it...not becuase someone came out with a new flavor of the month. I think there would be more strenght in the game if these teams would spend less time changing their marketing stratagy and more on the team itself. There is really no way for generations to share much about a team other than stories. My father and I did not enjoy the same "Houston" teams, just as my son and I wont. But at least the colors and monikers could be the same. I ask you this....when was the last time the Yankees, jacked with their unis? Anyone....anyone? They seem to have a pretty good fan base. How about the Lakers...or Celtics??? They've had an above average success rate ya think? Hell...even the Rockets were doing pretty damn good when we knew what the hell they looked like! Contrary to popular belief, change is not always a good thing...it's just a trendy thing. Dance with what brung ya!

 

Some teams never left...see my post above. Lakers, Celtics...Yankees. They have one or two rings I think.
