@LOL Portland The executive speculated that Miles may seek legal action of his own against the Blazers, by claiming that Portland is limiting his right to work. Miles needs to sue Portland, and then get signed (and still claim reduced value) and play two games.
This seems over the top, but makes it clear if a team signs Miles, they will have a mortal enemy in Portland. At this point, we can all agree nobody has a legit reason to sign him other than to hurt the Blazers. I still betcha someone does. If they do, I don't see how Portland can prove anything. Therefore, the legal action threatened here is a bluff IMO.
Classic blustery lawyer letter -- all the Trailblazers have done is increased the chances someone will sign Miles. I really hope it happens now and I bet a lot of other people are feeling the same way.
he's already suited up for Memphis this year, no? portland wasn't threatening to sue before they learned of the little loophole which would screw them. screw them.
I predicted this a while back concerning portland playing with the man's job security and source of income but was blasted by several posters as Miles being a overpaid bust. Oh well, illmatic all the way
You felt sorry for Miles, which is still misguided. Go back and re-read. "Job security and source of income" isn't the issue here at all. What the Blazers did seems pretty dumb to me, but making Miles out to be a victim is something best left to his agent.
At the end of the day, the reason the players union will be filing a grievance againt Portland is because they are playing with his job security be trying to bully other teams into not signing him
Grizzlies signed Darius Miles again! http://www.thememphisedge.com/2009/01/09/griz-signing-miles-to-10-day-contract/ Hooray
Mod please change the title of tread to "Grizzlies re-sign Darius Miles." Grizzlies either really like Miles or are trying to force a trade.
Wow I might actually watch some Grizzlies games next week. Shame there isn't a Portland home game coming up for Memphis.
I think he means they want to force the rumored Mike Conley for Sergio Rodriguez + another player trade. Miles would stay with the Grizz.
Even if free agents can be traded, Blazers can't have Miles' contract. By having his contract, his salary is added to the cap without the need to play any games.
Apparently, even the NBA thinks the suit is wrong and they WILL defend Miles. http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wi...9/nbpa_and_nba_seem_to_agree_on_miles_matter/
now the blazers better hope he stays signed. losing cap space won't look so bad when david stern is mad at you.
