Microsoft and Sony had their CES conferences recently. As usual, not a large focus on games, and certainly not anything major. Mostly a bunch of stats.

    - MS announced that they have sold 28M 360s. There are 17M XBL accounts, and more than $1B has been spent on the XBLM since launch.

    - Halo Wars demo will be out February 5th, full game releases March 5th.

    - Don't think Sony is giving out PS3 numbers, but MS put them at 20M in their press release, which is probably fairly accurate. There are also 17M PSN accounts.

    - LittleBigPlanet sold 1.3M copies, and there are 300K levels created.

    - $1M of goods have been sold in Home (I'm guessing since its launch in December?). Don't ask me how. 3.4M people have downloaded it, and EA is about to release their space this Spring:

Some games are on display, although nothing too exciting I think. Sony has a few of their games in 3D (Wipeout, GT5, MotorStorm). tinman saw KZ2 on display.

I'm not into RTS games, but Halo Wars looked good. Kill Zone looked awesome, the game play appears to be more like Call of Duty.

There's tons of PC stuff, but I'm not a PC Gamer. Intel has a bunch of games showing off how fast their new processors are. I'll post more stuff when I can.

Did you get to see any of the 3D presentations (preferably gaming, but I don't think there will many of those)? I'm curious to see how much of a difference that makes. It seems like a lot of companies are trying to push it. Thanks for all CES pics/vids (both gaming and non-gaming).

I did notice that there are a few new trailers, previews, etc., for games in the last day or so involving games at CES. I think KZ2 has either one or two great trailers (maybe more). I'm still w/o broadband, so I wasn't able to check them out yet. Unrelated, but I think the FF13 page opened today with some new screens and two musical tracks...but FF13 sucks, so I won't bother to post the links here. ;)

Yes I did see the 3d trailers for games like wipeout.
but the images would be really blurry (on purpose) if I took a picture of that.

It seems EVERYBODY is pushing 3d TV.

If you saw U2 3d on Imax, its the same technology. its pretty nice.

I don't like trailers, but seeing the KillZone2 in live action was awesome. Its like call of duty on steroids. I was impressed by the frame rate too. it ran smooth. I think I'll go over to the sony booth again and get more info for you.
then again, I like shooters and I hate games like FF. So if I were a PS3 owner who wants another shooter, this is a no brainer.

as far Samsung vs Sony in the TV business. Samsung is coming out with a high end LUXIA LED TV (led based LCDs) which have black levels and contrast as strong or better than plasmas.

Sony XBR might get dethroned by Samsung.

    Even better than Sony's OLED?

If anyone could take out Sony in the TV business, it would be Samsung. Samsung is the most popular/best value/reliability for HDTV and computer monitors and the sales reflect it.

samsung has oled too. oled is a showoff technology and will not go mainstream anytime soon.
led based lcds will go mainstream now. sony xbr8 look it up, its an led base lcd. thinner lcds and plasmas and 240hz lcds are also going mainstream.

Interesting concept here, you can use your blackberry as a remote for the PS3, and use the keypad of the blackberry as a keyboard for the ps3.
