You beat me to it. Don't believe? Just google "Lucy Pinder," but becareful...NSFW. Tebow = Legend (...and I'm a die-hard Longhorn fan...)
Meanwhile, in 3 years, we will all have a clue who you are, because you too have transcended such a barrier. Jimbo I salute you.
what's funny is that deep down inside you dont believe any of that... you know VY will always go down as one of the greatest college football players of all time, winning a title in one of the greatest games in football history with one of the single greatest performances. and you wish that you could say that about anyone that has or ever will step foot at tech. but you know it wont. and that makes you bitter.
In Houston and in Texas, no doubt it's VY. Tebow has a better body of work. But on the biggest stage in arguably the best college football game of the last 25 years, VY was it and then some. There's no question my viewpoint is skewed on this having watched him play in high school and college...but if you're asking me, that's my perspective.
The question didn't say "college football legend" it said "legend". I'm guessing neither will be legendary when it's all said and done. Feel free to disagree. Depends, Taco from where? Seriously, if I HAVE to choose, I'd say Tebow, but that's only because he hasn't blown it in the NFL yet, and thus still has a chance. My real guess is that VY will turn out to have had a better football career, and my real opinion is that neither plays with a style that tends to make a wave in the NFL. Wait, did I make a choice? like you care!
So you fault the guy for running the coach's offense? From the bits I saw of Tebow from the last two games, Tebow has a strong and accurate arm. The sampling size is way too small for me to project his pro prospects. But I would not be surprised if Tebow has a long successful (but not Hall of Fame) career in the NFL. Now Percy Harvin is another story ...
Lucy Pinder is not his girlfriend. She's just some British model. His real girlfriend...still hot. http://doubleextrapoint.blogspot.com/2008/06/not-tim-tebows-girlfriend.html
Hardly. Do you have any idea how many people watched VY in the rose bowl? It was the highest rated college football game EVER. Last night's game was 33% down from the Rose Bowl numbers.
No I don't fault him for running the coaches offense. I believe that the coach's offense (in which most "passes" are actualy really disguised running plays) makes him appear to be a more effective passer than he really is. But I disagree that he has an especially strong and accurate arm - it looked average at best last night, and I don't think he was much better than Chris Leak in that regard and arguably worse.
wow people are allowing VY's disaster of a pro career to affect their judgement of his college career.
Agree on Tebow's arm -- I was shocked last night (having never really watched him), watching: his glacial delivery, his staring at targets, and his not so accurate tosses. He could be okay, since he's big, but as I said in another thread, I'm not high on his pro prospects. Doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed either. I honestly wouldn't take him in the first round.
Tebow is the bigger "legend" because that is a large byproduct of media attention. Tebow if he comes back probably will go down as having the better college career, VY passed on his final stamp on that by going pro early (Heisman, 2nd NC). VY has hurt himself media wise his last 2 years in the pros too (and mostly deservedly so with on and off the field stuff)--but he has only been in the league 3 years and is a young kid who has shown flashes, you don't write a guy off yet. I think most key for VY is personal development and mental stability. But single season, 13-0, 3000 yards passing on high efficiency + 1000 rushing. Topped off by a near flawless almost 500 yard game against an opponent who had not lost in 30+ games. Tebow I don't think can match that season. Thus Tebow probably more of a legend & > college career, VY more dominant and better at his peak. That wasn't the Tebow I was watching. I saw a middle range sideline throw by Tebow that made VY's middle outs look forceful and tight (leading to the 1st INT) and fluttering balls all over the place. I saw a lack of confidence in Florida in their downfield throws that allowed OU to pack it in and dare Florida to try deep routes, and I don't remember OU getting burned for because Tebow missed those opportunities. Whereas USC was afraid of getting burned deep, thus tried to get VY to throw middle and short and get mistakes by VY or getting WRs to fumble after the catch (that Tx team did have a fumble problem). But afterward as Leinart basically said, VY was throwing on the money all day so there isn't much you can do to defend a guy like that. But except for last night, Tebow's decision making and ball protection has been better than VY--I'll give him the edge as a college player there, and that is hardly inconsequential.
Agree - at one point during a timeout, I saw a group of paleoclimatologists surveying him for ice cores.
VY is more talented, and I'd say the more dominant player, but Tebow is a bigger legend. Tebow will be remembered as the first Soph to win the Heisman, and for winning 2 NC, even if he wasn't the starter on the first he was still a key player. He'll only add to it by playing his Senior year, while Vince went Pro.
here's a great assessmetn of florida's offense btw: http://www.barkingcarnival.com/chrisapplewhite/urban-sprawl
well since tebow has never played a down in the NFL and because the national championship game just ended i figured it was pretty easy to imply that we are discussing college football. again...who is a college football legend in your eyes if vy is not?
