I recently watched a documentary of Wanda Jackson. They called her the nice lady with a nasty voice. I had no clue that they had not inducted her to the Hall of Fame yet. Anyway, I did a little research and was glad to know that she is up for nomination along with the others down below. I decided to see who you guys think is most deserving of this honor. Only five make it to the ballot.

Jeff Beck, Chic, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Metallica, Run-D.M.C., the Stooges, War and Bobby Womack and Wanda Jackson. Little Anthony & The Imperials

If I were the one voting, my list would be:

Wanda Jackson, of course. How come she is not already there baffles me????
    Run-D.M.C
    The Stooges
    War
    Chic

My votes: (I'm only picking 3, as in a post a couple years ago about the RRHoF, I argued that they've inducted too many artists and performers)

Metallica - For better or worse, they are the defining hard rock/metal band for the past 25 years. Their influence is everywhere in modern music and the guitar sound/style of James Hetfield is practically a cliche now.

Wanda Jackson - She was a pioneer for female rockers and the fact that Madonna got in before her is a travesty (actually, Madonna in the RRHoF is a travesty on its own, but I digress).

The Stooges - The beginning of heavy metal (Hendrix and Cream were loud but they weren't stupid like the Stooges were).

That doesn't mean I don't like the other artists but I just don't see them as truly unique and innovative. Beck has been inducted with the Yardbirds but his solo career has been very erratic. Chic is great, but I think they're just a small part of Nile Rodgers greater legacy as a producer (so if he had been nominated on his own, I'd have put him in). War was an early Latin rock band, but they don't have a good enough catalog to merit HoF status. Run DMC were the rap-rock pioneers but again, they didn't build up a big enough catalog of music to merit HoF status.

Caveat - I don't know enough about Bobby Womack or Little Anthony and the Imperials to make a definitive judgment, but based on what I've heard, they don't sound like particularly unique or grounbreaking artists.

Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. It's more of a popularity contest then really nominating the deserved artists. I've read that the nominating committee have pulled past candidates in favor of more commercially famous artists in fear of no one attending the ceremonies.

Metallica though I m not listening to their songs anymore.

I hope there's a day that I can travel around with my favorite band and basketball team.

And leave my girlfriend in the closet for some time.

2nd that. From what I understand as well, it's a troika of selectors who are about as critical as these guys:

The RRhoF is a complete joke, but here's my three:
    Jeff Beck
    Metallica
    Stooges

There are several bands not in and/or not nominated who are more deserving than many of the inductees, and Rush is only the tip of the iceberg.

Nothing says rock and roll like Run DMC...except Joni Mitchell.

    What a farce.

Also, I hate the Stooges, but how the hell are they not in there already? Disrespectful, ignorant humps.

I understand the whole "groundbreaking, pioneering" aspect of why some groups with limited discographies (e.g. The Sex Pistols) are nominated. But they should balance this with groups that have maintained a long-standing history of delivering quality music, such as Rush, Cheap Trick, etc. No offense to Little Anthony, but who's music is going to be remembered/played 20 years from now? Little Anthony or Rush?

Rush is innovative. Rush is supremely talented. The members of Rush write great songs. Although sometimes a bit pretentious, they do try to write about a broad range of meaningful topics. Their albums have gone multi-platinum. Their concerts sell out everywhere (or at least did for quite a while). So, what gives? What the he** else do they have to do to get in? Unfortunately, nothing.

Love Wanda. Have an autographed picture of her in my living room. A few years ago, at a show, I had to help her with her lyric sheet. She had a cheat sheet with the first lines of every verse of every Elvis song she was covering that night, and she needed me to go up to the front of the stage and hold it right under her mic stand for the entire show. Kind of embarrassing at times, and the arms got tired, but she was sweet and embarrassed as well, and the show went down a storm.

I've seen her a few times, always a great show.

i dislike rush, but i had no idea they're not in the rock n roll hall of fame. that's pretty ridiculous, i can at least admit they have talent and the resume to easily be in.

I didn't realize metallica was eligible, they too should be a no brainer.

I don't know if whoever said oasis was joking, but when they're eligible that's a no brainer also. outside of the US they've been one of the biggest bands in the world since the early 90's.
