Man they haven't given up yet? What happened to Rocketball.com I bet sooner or later they will offer to buy out Clutchfans. DONT DO IT CLUTCH!!!
If they offered, Clutch should seriously consider, I mean he has a family to consider, and I doubt he is doing this for fun anymore. DD
Yeah, he should take it. This website is going to start sucking if that happens though, but we all know when that happens, Clutch is going to make another website and we're all going to ditch this place and migrate over there....
That would not happen either, because they would lock him into a non-compete type of deal. If they ever offered, and it was a decent amount, usually the going rate is about $5-$20 per user based upon flickr and other types of sales....he should take it...IMO. DD
And risk his payout.......any deal (and I am totally speculating based upon deals I have done) would involve him continuing on here in a similar capacity and payouts for content over a certain amount of time, like 5 years. Of course that is all down to negotiation between the Rockets and Clutch.... DD
lol. now we're talking about a Clutchfans/NBA buyout... we're just a community of rabid Rockets fans, don't forget that.
There is no chance they could offer Clutch enough money. There is NO CHANCE they would pay him between $5 and $20 per user. That would be $100,000 to $2m and there is not a chance in hell they would ever offer that kind of cash. Not in a million years. I wish they would for Clutch's sake, but never gonna happen.
Problem with folks who do sports marketing is that they still don't understand digital. They are hyper control freaks and this subscribe to the notions of push-marketing and that since they are the official affiliation they will have more credibility. Doesn't work like that online. While the site might initially draw interest from Rockets fans who aren't on Clutchfans...and to be sure, I'm sure there's quite a few - they won't become members for the same reason they aren't members here already. All in all, I can't access the site, but reading this thread, it doesn't sound like it will be a successful social networking site. And I don't think they are anywhere near working with a site like clutchfans....for the simple fact that they don't own it. Perhaps someday the organization will employ someone with a bit more understanding of emerging media and how to use it effectively.
Hey, sorry... I am late to the party... WRONG FORUM, though... this should go in the D&D... it's neither Game Action NOR Roster Moves...! Please... no one start posting SMILIES over there... that's so tacky...
I'm sorry, but saying "Nope. I was in diapers." in a thread asking if I remember my first Rockets game is NOT a post worthy of deletion, is not politically incorrect.... really, there's nothing wrong with it.
"forthefans" sounds a bit too close to "clutchfans," if you ask me. I recommend a letter advising them to change the name to avoid legal action.
Well, I guess my tenure at the new lame ass site is over. I can't log in anymore so I assume they deleted my account.
