http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Dikembe_Mutombo_Talks_Leadersh-295438-34.html There is more, but click the link to get to it I am really really glad Deke is back. No he isn't "the answer" but he helps.
Thats great!! I'm glad to have him back too. He knows how to handle things. They need to bring him on as a coach or something cause we know t-mac needs some motivation help and he can bring that. Hopefully he can bring the same energy he brought last year too cause that would really get everyone pumped
Thanks to the ChuckWagon Jr. for posting this. Man...I can never understand what Deke says...but whatever he spits out of his mouth always gives me hope!
They need a big brother? There are plenty of big brothers on the squad. Pretty much everyone except Yao, Scola, Barry, Brooks and Maybe Alston counts as a big brother.
Too bad, the rockets look Dikembe Mutombo to save the life, hope that it is going to be worked out. How about the coach, and GM, they need do something to solve the problem soon or late.
Call it what you will but this is exactly why I wanted Deke back. That and his defensive presence on the court is intimidating.
this interview also confirms that the whole team is pissed off at Tracy McGrady. "I'm not going to make judgments.." Nobody asked him to make a judgment. They just asked him to evaluate Mcgrady's spirits in relation to his injuries. Mutombo said it himself so basically this is a reflection fo the team making judgments on McGrady.
it may be a stretch, but if he restores "order in the court", the rockets may actually be able to turn this thing around. I am actually somewhat optimistic.
Remember last year guys, when they had a group meeting and CHUCK HAYES talked about how "its all about professionalism". It was after that when things unbelievably clicked and set off the 22 win streak. Deke may lead a path on setting them back, although the situation runs a little deeper then last year with Mc Grady's remark on him needing to touch the ball more. I don't know, but I find it hard to believe that the last few games was just a health issue. It was more of him penting up inside what he was trying to hold down, and erupting in frustration visibly seen in his body language and poor uninspiring play on the court. When I come home from a hard days work and see something like that I feel like B**ch slappin the guy. But realistically and unfortunately I think its all going to come down to wether or not to GIVE THE SUPERSTAR WHAT HE WANTS. The rest of the team will come together with energy and will be healthy in time for sure. But for this guy the management is going to play it real smart, no trade or decision till 2010 (to starry-eyed by his talent), and somehow get him on the same page, cause without him they are just too average and stagnant. So enjoy the drama of the superstar as it unfolds. Whatever clicks at this point......
Mutombo's answer pretty much sums up the problem now. It's not just injuries to certain players but how these injuries have affected the entire rotation. Here's hoping Deke can help everyone man up and weather this storm.
