I agree with your conclusion. We can try to dance around it, but ultimately, this is McGrady's team to lead.

    1 Tracy McGrady - C G 6-8 223 05/24/1979 Mount Zion Christian Acad. HS (NC)
    C - Captain

McGrady's the captain, therefore leader by default.

Emotional leader might be Rafer. Experienced veteran leader Mutombo. Toughness leader Artest. All Star leader Yao. Leader by example Scola. But McGrady has the most overall influence, just how it is for now...

At this point there is no leader. The position is open but the only one who can honestly lead this team into a championship would be Tmac.
When he is down, he brings the team down with him

You are absolutely right on this. Like it or not, t-mac is the one who has the most influence on everyone else's behavior. I'd modify your statement here a bit though: T-mac is the leader, but a bad one at that

I think Yao's language doesnt help him from being a leader.

I dont know how many times we have to talk about leadership on this squad. I think some guys lead by their play, some by talking, but most are fence straddlers. I also think its something that you have at a early age. I dont know if the rox have a singular leader. i think it should be one of your best players, but if its not in them, thats just not them.
