Word is that he is on the block... He does not fit our team from a 3-point standard(AB off the pine), but he could certainly help us in other areas... He plays like a retro PG.... Consistent, All interior, Makes great passes, Paces the game the right way, Sweet mid-range jumper, Great post player.... And most importantly, He is an IRON MAN! He rarely misses a game and always plays tough... This would be a massive upgrade over Rafer I believe. He could give our team the right attitude and some more consistency which we desperately need... Not a contract guru, but I am sure we could figure something out... http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20090104/SPORTS03/901040353/1023
Wow, i didnt realize Monta ellis, carlos boozer, paul millsap, kirk hinrich, kevin martin, drew gooden, elton brand, deron williams, luol deng, zydrunas ilgauskas, jose calderon, and gilbert arenas had all signed with Houston this offseason.
Miller would be perfect here in Houston because he knows the game to be a floor general and leader something Rockets lack ATM. Mike Miller is another player i thought would fit here we would have to get on the phone and make some type or contract, youth 3 team trade that also sets us up for 2010. Could you imagine having Brad, Andre and Mike- (Miller) all on the same team?
They would need a fill in for Brand for sure. They would want 2 of our rotational players just for PG upgrade including Battier. We could ship T-Mac, Battier, Alston, Hayes out for all 3 Millers's and Young that is the only way that is possible money wise and requires a 4 team trade. Too unrealistic though.
Yao/Miller(1year)/Mutombo Scola/Landry Artest/Young Miller(1year)/Wafer/Head? Miller(expiring)/Brooks This also sets us up for 2010. That team right there would excell together very well. IN: Brad, Andre, Mike and Young OUT: Grady, Battier, Alston, Hayes
I don't know how many years it will be, but eventually we'll have a young, athletic, smart point guard that can shoot. Oh yeah, he will also have a great attitude, work ethic, and act responsibly in his private life.
He can't hit a 3, but he's actually a pretty decent scorer. His passing is above average, though not great. He can rebound too...umm, but I'm not sure about his ability to really run an offense. He can run a fast break and drive and dish, but running a structured offense with multiple passes and screens and cuts...I'm not so sure. Oh yeah, and his defensive ability to shuffle his feet is TERRIBLE. So I'm not so sure the Rockets want him.
I like it too, but chances are it would never happen. All of those players ATM would be considered upgrades too. Mike fits in because he is unselfish and can shoot lights out and Brad already knows the system and is also unselfish and can shoot and Andre is perfect for this system very unselfish and can controll his shot selection much better than Alston and play some defense and is more athletic. There would be more up-tempo in the starting 5 and Artest can convert to a go-to guy with Yao with even more ball movement now and a focused mind. The offense would run through Andre instead of Grady and our Bigs Yao and Brad can even set up some offense in princeton style more often. Mike can just do his thing bring the ball up and shoot lights out.
We would be soft on defense, but our bigs can atleast match up to the Lakers now and no the 3 Millers is just a coincidence lolz.. We would look similar to a old Kings squad imo except with better go to guys.
Isn't Miller a poor outside shooter. Our PG needs to be able to hit open threes, ala Nash or Bibby. But if you could snag AI/Miller for Alston/McGray, id do it.
Elton Brand and Dre Miller for Tmac and Scola works on the trade machines. I have read that they think Brand is slowing them down which they see as thier major problem. He is on a 5 year contract for about $12mil and was out all last year with an injury - which of course scares me. On the other hand he rebounds, blocks and would give us an inside that we lack when Yao sits. Miller has one year left on his contract.
