sorry but there are no moral victories this year. they finally played with heart and passion and made some damn shots, but the result is still the same.

they shouldve been playing like this since game one of the season. with such high expectations this season (just like the last 2). the way this team has played lately, the majority of rockets fans are thrilled and excited after tonights loss, due to the fact that they played their butts off.

However, this should be the norm, not the exception. They played well enough to win but just dont have a go to player down the stretch, and won't have one this season unless the one who we will not speak of decides to show up.

its gonna be tough to win close games if rafer is our go to guy. We've tried yao and those percentages aren't good either.

still no moral victories in my book. moral victories are for lottery teams, and we might be headed there. So if we hit the lottery, then maybe this is a moral victory.

    but not now.

    Exactly how I feel.

How low we have gone...there's still time to right the ship, but wow, from Ron Ron spouting "Anything less then a championship is a failure" to well, justifying bad losses day in and day out, the Rockets have failed to meet expectations.

I know they're dealing with injuries and chemistry is still forming, but unless something drastic happens, the Rockets are not championship contenders, plain and simple. And with Artest's pending free agency, McGrady crumbling to nothing and Yao refusing to dominate and with an uncertain time limit on the rest of his career, the Rockets cannot afford to have yet another mid-level, 4-5 seed season, nevermind missing the playoffs entirely (which is an unlikely possibility, but still a possibility at this point, sad as it is). They need to make a step up into the true elite of the NBA sooner rather then later, otherwise they should seriously start considering just rebuilding from scratch.

As a fan, I sure appreciate a game like tonight rather than the one last night.

At it's core, sports is entertainment. It should have no bearing on our lives beyond a pleasurable pastime to make us forget about our feminized bureaucratic red-tape-filled daily lives stuck in cages of social acceptance, and our (insert random D&D rant here). And in that context, I much more enjoyed watching tonight's game. It was compelling, there was heart in it, I could actually look up to the players tonight and find some admirable qualities to root for like passion, toughness, an underdog mentality when everyone around you is taller than you.

By those qualities, I think this qualifies a moral victory. It shows the fans that this season still has potential, and I think the team itself will rally around having a game where three of their four best players were out and they were in it up to the final two seconds.

you can always build on losses like this. We were without key players, but we fought hard and almost beat a good healthy team.

Well,it's just not hard enuf to knock 'em off.We just fell short to the Hawks despite McGrady and Ron sit on the bench.

Wafer is the warrior on this team,he fought and brought what he's got on the floor.Running the ball and attacking the basket while he's feeling not right on his calf.

I agree with the OP. I love the fact they played with heart tonight but the result remains the same, another loss.

I don't care what happens, I'll welcome T-Mac back with open arms if he can bring his form back. I care about 1 thing and that's the Ws.

Whoever they have to trade i'm willing to trade, whatever they have to do or whoever they have to bench. I don't care as long as the Ws start mounting up again.

It's a bottom line sport for me, I want a championship.

Well said, fans need this attitude especially after another loss. Like you said, I don't wanna infuse something more than entertainment to the games, but often it is just out of my control and loss always makes me sad. Nevertheless, I never lose my faith on this rockets. I still believe...
