    T-Mac's back-to-back plan could change

In the first back-to-back of his plan to play one game when the Rockets play two in as many nights, Tracy McGrady played against the Raptors on Friday and said, “Tonight’s the night.”

He, coach Rick Adelman and trainer Keith Jones did, however, seem to leave open the possibility McGrady would play against the Hawks tonight, likely depending on how he reacts to playing and to the flight.

“With Shane (Battier) out, it’s kind of difficult for Coach to really have me sit out, not knowing how Ron (Artest’s) ankle is going to respond, cold weather, and then traveling tonight,” McGrady said.

McGrady said the decision to play in Toronto had nothing to do with beginning his career with the Raptors, but he said his return did remind him of good times and of his role then.

“When I was playing here, I was more what I always envisioned myself being, especially my third year: defending, rebounding,” McGrady said. “That was the only way I could get on the basketball court. When I (went) to Orlando, my role reversed, and I had to become a scorer. Now I think I reverted to not taking as many shots and becoming a facilitator. The offense is not really there because mentally, I’m not there with my legs.”

wonder if he'll actually play, doubt it

Given T-Mac's "play" last night, he better get off his ass and onto the court tonight.

I don't get why T-Mac's so mentally unstable, thats the only thing holding him back i think...Other player like Kobe, Wade, even Danny Granger play with so much confidence and aren't scared of anyone, and sometimes it seems as if T-Mac has no confidence, even two years ago T-Mac was as confident as ever you would see him make hand gestures after shots, and he would want to have the ball

Now its like he passes everytime he gets it, i know their are other scorers on the team but that doesn't mean he doesn't have to score as mcuh, just score efficiently, i think he just doesn't have it mentally right now to get out there and play like he's capable of...he needs to do something about tht..

I agree. I wish the 2005 McGrady would come back and lead the Rockets.

its all coach's fault...for not giving him the balll more often.. thus he lost all his confidence. There is barely any plays called for him.. think about it.. if a super star player like kobe, wade, lbj touches the ball in every 5 min what would happen to them? most of the super stars are quantity shooters.............without quantity they cant get into their rythem...so this is mostly to blame on coach.ever since RA came t-mac and yao has been going down hill...

He has the ball on every possession, Tmac needs to quit blaming others for his crap play.

    It really is...all on him.

did u even ****ing watch the game? there are plenty of plays called for him, often WING ISO plays for him to let him drive and create. How does he respond? time and time again he jacks up a 20 foot contested shot with 20 second left on the shot clock.

more over, when the play began in other players' hand, t-mac just stnads there and wait for the ball. Where is the cut and movement from his part???

Simply put, his talent can't hide his immaturity anymore.

I wish Mac would play off the ball. Anybody remember the opening game last year against the Lakers and him scoring 30 points off cuts and screens? That was one of the best games I ever saw him play. Now all he does is hold the ball. Tmac would get shots in this offense if he played off the ball. Wishful thinking I know.
