He had Chuck coming in at garbage time tonight. DNP Coaches Decision and they barely escape against a crap team like The Bucks. His love affair with Luis Scrotum and Carl Laundry is sickening. This guy has clearly forgotten how to coach the game of basketball...
I thought everybody was crawling all over Landry after the Bucks game. I do agree that we need Chuck to bring in the intensity again.
yeah, just what you need when your team can't buy a bucket...the Chuckwagon I like Chuck and his effort, but the way we were playing tonight, if we would have had Chuck in there and his man could double team at will, we would have put up about 10 points
This team is actually a better than average defensive team, what this team really needs is an offense which currently is being put to shame by High School offenses throughout the Country, I'd rather Watch tapes of Chinese National Basketball team get into their offensive sets that this team on Offense.
Carl just dunks a lot. There are tons of guys in the NBA that can do that stuff. That is why he is never consistent. He has no real game. Same with Scola. His outside shot is 50-50. One game, he hits the 15-18 footers, the next he bricks everytime. I honestly don't think either of them would start on 90% of the NBA teams. And neither of them know how to play defense. Scola is one of the worst defenders I have ever seen.
I was thinking the same during this pathetic game. Anyway, if TMAC isn't playing well, Chuck isn't as effective. Chuck needs Tmac to draw defense away.
More and more I wonder why Hayes is DNP. The arguments about him not providing offense are neutralized when Scolandry combine for 10 points while getting absolutely on the other side of the court. At least Chuck stops his man. Landry is looking like a complete basketball moron on team defense. You can almost guarantee that when the other team gets a clear path to the basket in the half court it's because Landry didn't rotate like he was supposed to.
That's one thing you know with Chuck, is you are going to get exactly the same thing out of him night in and night out. The problem with Adelman is he wants to make him something he's not. At least that's my observation.
hayes defense has slipped a little so far this season. He's getting more foul calls when he strips the ball, unlike the last couple of seasons. he's also a little slower than last year (not sure if he's gain a little weight). last year, imo he was a top 5 defensive pf in the game, now i think he's regressed a bit. he hasn't been able to stop his man as well as he used to. maybe the lack of defense by the team is contagious towards our better defenders
when the offense is not falling, you always fall back on defense. And you cant depend on scola/landry to defend. Play hayes, when scola/landry's shot is not falling.
He wants him to be an offensive player. He doesn't run anything for his forwards. In his system, when the guards drive and get stopped, they drop it off to one of the bigs. At that point, they have to take a contested layup, or if they were already hanging outside the paint, take a wide open 15 footer which as I already stated, Scola makes those shots every other game. He is never consistent. That is definitely not Chuck Hayes' game. He is a pick & roll type player. He averaged almost as many points and more rebounds in Van Gundy's last season in the same minutes that Carl Landry is averaging about the same by cleaning up dead plays. The problem with Adelman is that he is a system coach and when he doesn't have players that fit into his system, he doesn't win. The really great coaches will adapt to what they have to work with. Take Van Gundy. Van Gundy was a defensive coach, but he found ways to score with the players he had. It was strict Pick & Roll with McGrady and feeding the post with Yao. Rick Adelman does all this fancy high post crap that none of these guys know how to run and sadly would never be effective in even if they could run it well.
See, he was actually doing that this season, but then all of a sudden he fell in love with both Landry and Scola and the next thing you knew, they were playing at the same time. Infact, you can really pinpoint the downfall when he started doing that. That is when The Rockets started losing big leads and blowing games in the last few minutes. Heck, the last 3 or 4 close games that they squeeked out, could easily have been losses and The Rockets could be close to a .500 team.
TRADE BAIT..... I hope...... another player who is good at one thing and he isn't good at it all of the time....... dude can't even make FT's and layups. i like his work ethic but I like the beer vendors too, but it doesn't mean he should be on the court.
If he was trade bait, he would be playing. He makes next to nothing by NBA player standards, so who do you expect him to fetch? That was a nice cameo he had in the 2nd quarter against Atlanta though. I loved watching Louise Scola and Carl Laundry get dry cleaned on defense Way to go Adelman you jackass...
