Has T-mac lost his skills/abilities or is he just unmotivated?

a bit of both. a tiny bit of skill because he hasnt put in the practise. but mostly motivation because he hates the system

I agree, T-Mac would be doing better in JVG's system, hurt or not.

Something tells me Grady isn't very fond of Adelman's system (for whatever reason) and is showing his displeasure in the only way he knows how -- by being a petulant child and putting his feelings ahead of the team, the fans and the city.

Nice. And to think I used to defend this guy when people said he was selfish.

I had to watch today's game via Sopcast, which had a really crappy image. So bad, in fact, that I could barely tell who was who. At one point in the first quarter, I wondered who the slow, bulky guard was -- only to realize it was Grady, dragging his bloated ass around on the court. I honestly was so depressed at that realization that I turned the game off, and that's something I NEVER do. But like you guys, I love this team so much and had such high hopes for this year, and I just couldn't take the sight of a spoiled millionaire ruining things for all of us simply because something's not perfect in his little world right now.

Exactly what I was going to say it doesn't seem like he wants to play for us anymore or he just doesn't want to play basketball any longer

The problem is he IS UNMOTIVATED even when he's healthy...because people think he doesn't give enough effort just based on the body language he shows on the court. So when he's struggling people tend to magnify the situation....but he has been like that even when he's healthy. So even if he's unmotivated...you can't really tell. I don't really like his game even when he's healthy. He never shows a desire to win and a will to dominate...he's more like playing Cinderella basketball where everything is nice and perfect. He doesn't seem to be the kind that want to be dirty and grind it out and play hard hustling...ect..

    Does Mcgrady have any pride?

Does Mcgrady have any pride? For someone who gets paid $20 million a year, he seems to be content with his stat line

    4pts, 2-9 shooting, 2 turnovers.

Has he really given up, is he really that hurt, dude should just retire from basketball.

I don't know if he has pride, but he does not have heart (or doesn't show it).

for someone said theyd come back with intensity and desire, i am sure not seeing the intense or desired part. if youre gonna sit out on b2b games, go hard for that one effin game. seriously. i dont even know if you could call his "surgery" surgery. and it seems he just spreads his disease through the entire team (poor shot selection and no fire). even though when artest has a bad night, atleast he gets up and rowdy as much as he can.

and im not basing the rockets down fall on tmac, but of course, this is "his" team. no way to get around it. everyone on the team has a place to improve. the team doesnt look good either when everyone misses wide open shots.

i don't think he has any pride or cares about his stats, it's like he has no ego, which is a bad thing in this case. usually stars who score only 2 points in a game will follow that up with 20+ points. he doesn't care if he scores under 10 points the rest of the season. it's like he doesnt think he needs to do too much to win.

He is a stain on the entire Houston Rockets franchise.

It is not asking much to ask a guy to play hard every night.
Last night was the most disgusting, embarrassing performance I have ever
seen, and I will never forgive him for pissing on the Rockets legacy...

You didn't mention 2 rbs and 1 steal.

30 teams played on 2 Jan and Houston got the lowest points of 73 and TMac scored only 4 points.

As for the reasons of his poor play: he said in the post-game interview that he had only 1 touch of the ball every 5 minutes causing him difficult to get into a groove. Secondly, the spacing was not good and he could not go one-on-one.

It appears that he's putting the blame for his poor play on either his teammates or situations on the court. It never comes to his mind that his lack of energy and intensity on the court is the main cause of his poor play. He may think that because of his star status, those were not necessary in his games.

Based on his ridiculous demeanor, you can figure out whether he knows what "pride" is as a professional NBA player earning $20M per year.

    I bet it's a combination of things.

His ego: "it's on me" "this is my team".

The guy have been in the league 11 years and it's time to move on.

It's not just the injuries it has alot to do with his mental approach and desire to compete, not only the playoffs, but the regular season he treats as if it was pre season.

The guy is not a cancer, but now he complains about not getting enough shots which is garbage when he should be demanding the ball during the game and lead the team.

I believe the 2010 Rockets plans have come out way too early and now he knows this is another issue. There is players who are better then She-Mac that will be available and he probably will retire anyways so what the point in keeping a guy around if he is going to retire.

He has also stated before that he does not need to participate during preseason and has admitted to quitting on the Magic in his last season.

Every year Rockets have sky scrapper expectations to start a season and it's always this BS every season.

Grady is done the injuries through out his career has taking it's toll on him and the 1st round exits have taking a toll on him mentally.

He has no desire to want to compete again.

11 seasons alot of miles on him i think Rockets need to start wheeling and dealing quickly they can find youth and have it ready by 2010.

I would move him to Portland for Bayless that guy will be a good player and Portland don't even play him.
