That's because they are fighting hard and overcoming their problems, while we are injured and are playing badly without any purpose, energy and direction.

yea that small play turned out to be the differnece, but it shouldn't have come down to that. Blazers were without Roy and the Celtics still struggled to beat them.
I remember in a college game, Drexler the UH Cougars was not fouled out after he committed his 5th foul because the official miscounted his fouls. This kind of things happen. It's just because it's the Celtics they are making a big fuss out of it.
Isn't that completely irrelevant if the results are the same. If anything that would mean we have a higher ceiling and reason to be more optimistic that we can be much better.
No, it isn't irrelevant because the season doesn't end today. Everybody knows the best of the Blazers is yet to come. They are the 2nd youngest team in the NBA. They don't pretend to be a championship contender this year. If you took a poll of Blazers fans before the season, only the most lunatic fruitcakes would have predicted them to be 20-12 after their murderous early schedule. They are much further along than expected. On the other hand, the Rockets window is rapidly closing and this season may be their last shot. One of their star players, Tracy McGrady, may not fully recover this season from surgery. Another rotation player, Shane Battier, is also unlikely to be himself. The PG position is a trainwreck between a washed-up veteran and a promising 2nd year player. 20-12 is one thing, but the prospects going forward for winning a championship this year don't look good at all. Current season and future expectations are why 20-12 isn't the same for the Rockets and Blazers.
or you could say, it's only been 32 games, we had a significantly worse record last season at the same point in time, and right now 3 of our 4 best players are still recovering. It's way too early to decide whether or not we're contenders. as for this thread, another laughable example of how crappy the nba is. wow.
Expectations. Age. Injuries. It's all about expectations. The Blazers are arguably overachieving and the Rockets are underachieving.
How is that so hard to understand? Man, I swear some of the people on this forum are really dumb. Let me explain to you why the blazer's 20-12 is good and the Rockets 20-12 is bad: 1) The blazer does not have the supposedly "best center in the league". Oden is a rookie center. 2) The blazer does not have a Tracy McGrady, a former two times scoring champion. 3) The blazer does not have two of the best defensive players in the league aka Ron Artest and Shane Battier. 4) The blazer have never lost to the 6-24 Wizards or the 10-22 Grizzlies. Does that make sense? need more explanation? let see you come back and post a reply or make a another one of those feel good thread?
Lots teams in same boat as Rockets record wise... Detroit, Denver, Spurs, Dallas, Utah, New Orleans. Much depression in the land. Sky falling all over. Bad economy, terrorists, end is near. War, war never changes.
As far as THIS season is concerned I would guess the best is yet to come for the rockets and maybe the blazers as well. I could really care less about expectations, i only care about results. If the rockets finish with a better record and go further in the playoffs then i would consider them more successful THIS season regardless of all the other factors. As far as the future is concerned...i think the blazers are stacked with good young role players. I thought they would have moved some of them by now but I think they will lose alot of young depth either through free agency or they'll make a trade, no way they can pay all those guys. Obviously there's reason to be more optimistic about their future though. I get the feeling some people are going to be let down by the Blazers a few years from now unless they can somehow get a dominant inside player.
