I've heard this pair discussed a lot in Lamar McGrady threads..can anybody tell me where this combo originated from? Is it a legit rumor or just a fantasy prediction?
Weak thread. It's not a rumor. I proposed it as a random trade idea and that's all it is and all it likely ever will be. Do some research to legitimize what you're talking about before creating a thread.
You repeated your idiotic idea about 10 times in just about every thread on the GARM and now you are surprised that someone thinks it's a rumor?
wow, it was posted in the SacBee that the Kings want to move Salmons and Miller, 85% of this board is 'done with Tmac' and wants him traded, The trade fits, and somewhat benefits both teams....I don't see what is idiotic about that.
The trade would benefit the Rox but not sure if it would for the Kings. TMac is an overpaid, declining superstar at this point. Even if the Rox want to trade him it'll have to wait until his leg heals.
John Salmons is not garbage. He is a consistent scorer and has showed up even harder against competition like the Lakers (Kobe). He consistently shows effort to a team that is not going anywhere, and it is not a contract season for him like it was for Mike James with Toronto. I followed Salmons since his days in Philly, and I can tell you... he is talented. He averages around 20 points per game (it will drop if he does come here though), but he shoots the 3s at a 40% clip. His only downside is that he turns the ball over around 2 times per game and is not that great of a passer like Tracy. Brad Miller would be an awesome back-up and we would see some Rick's offense in the 2nd unit. I seriously like this trade idea... wish it was true.
i like the idea, too. it will be like getting 50 cents on a dollar on mcgrady. good trade for the rockets.
Salmons is backup having a career season. He's just another role player at best. This season is in no way indicative of his career. He's a decent shooter inside the arc, but shoots like 35% for his career (a la Rafer). No thanks on Salmons. Miller would be a backup here. The trade makes no sense. We don't get better.
Are you BrooksBall's alter ego or a brother? I notice the similarity in user name and post quality, even though he is at least more eloquent.
IF we do trade mcgrady at this point, anything that can not land us a starter-quality player or 2 is a good trade. i mean you can expect a star player in return any more. that window is now officially closed barring a miracle. salmons has been a backup, but so was hedo turkoglu. for a player that appears to be upcoming, you don't look his career numbers. so the "ala rafer" comparison isn't really appropriate. of course, this trade idea is based on the assumption that we trade mcgrady this season and right now. another option would be to give him another chance to perform for this season and decide what to do with him next year.
I am not sure why some people here are so obsessed with following around Brooksball and attacking him, sometimes even personally. The idea of Miller and Salmons being traded is out there. The idea of looking to trade McGrady is plenty around in this board. I think his suggestion has more merit than some of the "Rafer Alston for used condom, and we can throw in a half eaten Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich to sweeten the deal" ideas I have thrown out there. Sacbee link below.... IMO, Kings wont go to Rockets asking for McGrady (either because of his performance so far this year, his health, or because they think Rockets think he is too valuable to their team). If anything, Rockets will have to initiate the talk. There is a backbone to this idea, however, I haven't seen or confirmed anything saying that the two teams are in talks. "Still, changes may be on the horizon because of the Kings' dire status. According to numerous league sources, interest in a trade for center Brad Miller has been lukewarm and might take some time to heat up as the February trade deadline approaches. As a result, the Kings are believed to have expanded their list of available players since the season's outlook is so grim. The one player consistently producing – swingman John Salmons – could be among those offered merely because he could command the most in return. The relevant question, of course, is whether the Kings see him as part of the long-term solution. Salmons, 29, has three seasons and $16.3 million remaining on his contract. That includes a player option for the 2010-11 season worth $5.8 million. He is averaging career highs in points (19.7), field-goal percentage (49.3) three-point percentage (40.9) and minutes (36.9)." http://www.sacbee.com/sports/story/1505493.html As I said, Brooksball did not pull Miller and Salmons idea out of his @ss.
Salmons shoots 44.5% from the field and 34% from 3 for his career, pretty respectable stats if you ask me. And at this point, I'd be more than willing to make this trade. I don't see TMac fully recover from his injuries, and his lack of competitive spirit is really discouraging.
