Why was Alston an option for Rockets MVP? Did I miss something? He's shooting 36% from the field and averaging 11.7 ppg with 4.8 apg.
Well, had to put someone else in the nominations. Then, I said to myself that last year, Rockets lost all their games without Alston.
You should have limited that one to three options to drive a point home. Yao Artest Scola Battier shouldn't be there either. Scola is probably a decent 3rd option.
Have you been watching Tracy Lamar (no longer gets cool nickname in my book) this season? At least Scola shows up and tries hard every game. What is your defintion of MVP? Based on the first 32 games, Tracy Lamar shouldn't be on that list.

Most Valuable Player The player that the team needs the most and the most important player in the team. Yes, T-Mac hasnt play well this season due to injuries, but if you look at the second half and the post-season last year, then, you will know that T-mac is a lot more valuable than Scola in this team.
So, basically, if Tracy Lamar missed all 82 games, he could still be MVP by your definition. You are citing last season in your reasoning. You also say MVP is who the team needs most. You can need a player that doesn't play all season due to injury. MVP should be based on what the player has done during the current season to make his team better and that should be the ONLY factor. Whatever, though, it's your thread.

I see at least two people that voted for somebody other than Artest as the best Rockets defender yet voted for Artest as the best NBA defender.
