That's funny you say that...against my better judgment, I still check the GARM threads and then I usually shrug and move on without really reading any. They might depress me if I read them, but I find that most threads are without any semblance of reason or purpose, so I don't know if they make me sad for the Rockets or sad for the state of the BBS. By and large, the GARM become painful for me to read about a year or two ago. I guess large crybaby threads like this one don't help matters.
The NBA season in general is too long and almost like playing for nothing. I think either the regular season games should be lower or the number of teams that make the playoffs should be lower. The one thing I like about baseball is their season set up. In MLB they play 120 games or so and each game actually means a whole lot because only 8 teams make the playoffs. In the NBA you play 82 games and 16 teams make the playoffs... Playoffs should really be the best of the best not sub .500 teams making the playofss.
the Rockets team are boring. you got a big guy who is the slowest and softest player in NBA. You got a PG who has little to no skills other than cockiness before media. in your starting lineup, no one can even jump. meh, boring.
completely and totally agreed. there is no sport where the regular season means less than NBA basketball.
For some it might be because of the recession. People are less interested in sports with the economy so bad and people losing their homes and jobs. Or the recent hurricane that left many homes damaged. When times are bad, sports takes a back seat. For you, I don't know why because you still love football.
I feel like this is the Rockets' most exciting team in years. The JVG teams, now those were boring to watch. OUR 2006 PLAYOFF ROTATION HAD RAFER AND HAYES AS STARTERS WITH JUWAN HOWARD OFF THE BENCH. You can't tell me adding Artest, Brooks, Scola, and Landry to that hasn't improved things. I think this Rockets team is the most frustrating to watch since the Pippen years, because of we believed this team was capable of going in and what we've seen the Rockets do in spurts with our own eyes. The inconsistency is maddening, and I've forcibly had to detach myself at times to keep from being too pissed off at how much worse we are than what we should be. Still, we have a better record at this point in the year than any in a while, so there's no reason to lose hope.
I'm only frustrated because this team doesn't play anywhere near their potential. It seems that 2 years removed from JVG's intense coaching style is making them develop bad habits. I'm hoping that as the playoffs approach they actually care to start playing to their full potential. Simply put, it's not about the team record. 20-11 is nice. However, watching them play frustrates me because they don't play how I know they can play. It's all about how you play, not your record for me.
actually, i've followed football less this year and am more invested in the rockets. also, oddly enough i like baseball a lot again.
I've been a Rockets fan for over 20 years and never had my interest wane. Good bad and the ugly, I've suffered throught it all. It's always easy to jump off when things are going bad, think they have a term for that.....
Uh, it seems that the actual Rockets roster is suffering from the same syndrome as the OP. I suggest that T-Mac's fatigue/depression is VERY contagious.
Rockets used to be very fun to watch. Even though I have only watched them since the 2004-2005 season, they were fun from there all the way until last year. Last year was very entertaining, especially during the 22 game winning streak, I was so hyped every day about Rockets always counting hours down till the game starts, it was awesome. The Novak winner even had me screaming and waking everyone in my house up lol. I guess its stuff like not seeing any highlight plays anymore. T-mac never takes it to the rack and dunks anymore. I havent seen him dunk once this year. All this team does is jack up jumpers or illadvised shots, nothing fun about that.
I admit the same, even though we have a better record than last year at this time. With success comes expectations, must be
Same here for some reason. I was really excited before the season, especially with the Ron Artest acquisition. It's probably just because I'm getting old.
There's no growth in this team's best players. Maybe they're playing 110% or something, but it's like Yao's numbers grow along with other conference powers. A lot of trading for vets will do that too. We never dominate. We're just on the verge...just waiting for that one extra player to step up. Eventually that takes its toll when there's nothing to show for it.
My interest is not really waning but it is becoming increasingly difficult to watch due to the poor officiating these days. Landry got assaulted a couple of times in the Wizards game and nothing was called. It happens all the time to Yao. And in the Cleveland game, I have a difficult time convincing myself that the refs didn't have money riding on Cleveland. i almost don't feel like watching anymore. Their poor energy level is not helping. Wafer makes the game a whole lot more interesting. I guess with that statement, it is evident that i prefer a more athletic up-tempo type game.
Well, I'm sure most of us are not laughing during and immediately after embarrassing losses like a certain Rocket.
My interest hasn't waned, but I missed that rugged-JVG style defense that would just choke the air out of the other team. I know a lot of people complained about his offense, but for me good defense is more exciting than good offense. Any guy in the NBA can light it up, but it takes great preparation to shut a player down. Hopefully, JVG has a chat w/ the team and reminds them of their identity.
