Some categories I have more experience in than others. Italian isn't really my favorite food, in fact, I kind of hate it. But when I want some, I go to the one in the village. I like it. Sorry that bothers you.

Yep, that is my favorite dish. I've almost learned to cook it on my own. I like the chicken piccota at Collina's. I have eaten at better Italian places here, but I really don't feel like dropping $50 bucks for it.. y'know?
Other than the Breakfast Klub (which I think is kind of overrated), Houston seems to be lacking great breakfast spots. We need an Original Pancake House in Houston (Dallas and now even Austin have them). Oh, I forgot to mention Le Peep.
I've got nothing against keeping expenses down, but in my experience, Two Rows is just awful in regards to food. For similar pricing, and if you want to stick with the brewpub restaurant feel, I think BJ's is a better option. Not a fan of Paulie's?

there's one in the strip center at kirkwood and memorial on south side of memorial...where Hungry's used to be before they moved to their new spot.
I don't know if y'all remember, but there was a place called Gugenheim's (sp?) on Post Oak before K&Z was built, and it (along with The Bagel Shop in Meyerland) was were it was at for NY-style deli. Pretty good list here, you added some essentials that I missed like the M&S happy hour menu, Candellaris, and Ninfa's Navigation (can't believe I forgot that one!) Gotta disagree with Arturo's though, it's more expensive than Carraba's and not half as good, IMO.
Katz's has a really good breakfast. That and Barnaby's are my usual breakfast spots. Shade for weekend brunch is also solid. Osaka for sushi. That place is incredibly fresh. I like Nino's/Vincent's for Italian.
Ninfa's on Navigation used to be at the top of my list until they came under new ownership this year. It's just not the same anymore. That's why I go to El Tiempo now. It's the only place still run by the Ninfa family.
