New Years Eve Party

the game starts at 6pm, and will probably end around 845.

 

Sure that's a great idea! Why doesn't some naive soul invite a bunch of dudes over that he or she doesn't even know for a NYE Rockets party for a game that ends at 9PM. That sounds like a blast of a party.

I might be up for this. I can't think of a better New Years idea than to hang out with complete strangers at some random house.

 

If I was that naive soul opening up my house to complete strangers, there would definitely be nachos. And a 6 ft hoagie. And a lifesize cardboard cutout of T-Mac with a bum knee and missing his heart.

 

I'd settle just for the nachos.......

 

This thread is pure greatness on a number of different levels.

I just love the fact that someone (who hasn't even spent that much time on the board) is actually suggesting that someone open his house up to a bunch of COMPLETE STRANGERS......and that somehow it's okay because afterall....they will bring chips and dip.

And what exactly do you mean by "free house"? Oh, I'm not really using my house on NYE, so everyone just COME ON OVER!!!

we all know each other pretty well....I'm thinkin the party would start out with a poll.....'who's the hotter 17 year old, Allison Stokke or Miley Cyrus'

then we talk about poop for 30-40 minutes.

someone will ask for advice, if he should propose to his girlfriend, or dump her.

then everyone will open their respective laptops and post knee-jerk threads in the GARM during the game, and people will flash 'fail' signs at each other.

and then a BBS poker game will break out and someone will shout, 'there isn't enough tequila for someone to get hurt' and someone will get hurt.

actually, I think I might try to make this after all.

 

I almost considered offering up my house until I read this part of your post and realized this is exactly how it would go down.

 

It's not really such an awful idea. I went to a CF get-together at Behad's house and it was cool.

I thought about hosting such a party, but a few things really nixed the idea:

(1) I'd have to limit it to well-established CF members. Sorry, but there's a LOT of people on this bbs. Only if you've been around for 7-9 years and have posted a lot might I trust you.

(2) ..and this is the big one... A party at my house just wouldn't be very fun. It'd be a "don't vomit on my carpet" ..."please only smoke outdoors"... "keep the noise down"... "keep your clothes on"... "don't break/mess up my stuff" type of party... ... which isn't really a party.
