We want Mutombo something about his leadership on the sideline and court that when he is around the team plays with more heart and effort because they know he is a older veteran and his time for a ring is slimming by the minute.

Mutombo was forced to play more regular season minutes than Adelman wanted him to last year, when Yao went down for the season. Mutombo is being signed mainly for playoff action. If we don't get a 3rd string center, Hayes, Scola and Dorsey are going to have to play backup C.

I saw Mutombo and his family eating at the Cheesecake Factory in the galleria today.

Hopefully he is here to stay

Thats a good sign. I was getting the feeling that Morey was looking for someone younger to fill the backup C spot but maybe Deke is here to talk contract with Morey.

Because they grow on trees and they're a dime a dozen right? Mutombo may not be the best answer but he's an option regardless. If that "young, athletic, big" feller your speaking of was readily available he would've been signed yesterday. We just need somebody to back up Yao for at least 10-12 mins, man the paint, protect the hoop, grab boards and block a short or two. Who better than Mutombo?

We need to sigh Deke right away! How much time is there left for Tmac to play for Rox? And Yao's 28,Tmac's 29,nobody knows whether Artest will play for us next season. We need proven veterans to help us win championship in the near future.I guess if Morey's thinking about getting a younger backup Centre he wouldn't trade Gay for Battier.

Almost all the other teams seem to have one or more. Portland has a basket full.

I want Mutombo back because he brings heart and for some reason, even if he won't play much, I believe he'll have a much bigger impact on the sidelines, in which his aura will impact the team.

He stuck with us through thick and thin ever since T-mac was traded here. If we want this to be a special season, we're gonna need him, and IF, thats a big if, we win the championship, he deserves to be on that championship team.

Bring back the cookie monster! Bring back Mutombo!

According to the Chron, Morey has spoken to Deke and his agent Falk, Morey is not going to make a decision for several days. Deke is rightfully impatient and looking at his options. Morey seems on the fence about Deke, seems to me he is looking for a younger, longer term fit than Deke.
