The Raiders just beat Tampa in Tampa... the Raiders actually do have some decent pieces, and they were geared up to play the Texans in a game that they were likely caught looking ahead after the Tennessee win.
Sidenote: Strangely, the Texans and Raiders might be getting Thank You cards from Philadelphia (if they win).
Did he really say Kobe Bryant? I thought i heard that too but no way the announcer goes to that level. He also kept spotting the ball a lot shorter than was clearly clearly visible. And when they were reviewing the slaton fumble, could the guy sound any more depressed? No stress, we won.
The good: Jeff fisher had like 400 consecutive 8-8 seasons before turning into the only guy who can have a mustache and still be cool, and We've also made progress offensively. The bad: I think reeves will never turn around to make a play on the ball. I've given up hope. maybe the coaching staff can invest on a megaphone and yell a code word to give reeves the heads up on incoming pass. =/ the ugly: *still to be determined. awaiting the firing of smith.
I hated listening to that guy. I normally let stuff like that go but this guy was over the top. I lost it when he mentioned the flop. Pathetic.
Yeah he mentioned Kobe Bryant. He either said "Kobe Bryant flop" or "flop like Kobe Bryant" This joker was obviously pulling for the Bears
Not to be MEAN or a BASHER but other than the 2-14 season . . . . haven't the Texans always seemed to FINISH STRONG Rocket River
Grades imho... QB...Shaub: will never be a top QB, but he has put it together. Sure the Oakland game sucked, but everybody played bad that game. The play-action passes by him has impressed me...b- RB...Slaton with 1282 rushing yards has more rushing yards than any other rookie RB. He has proven himself as a regular and seems to be a threat for 100 yards rushing even on "bad" games. Still need a 225+ bruiser for relief and red zone knock ins ....A- O line:...Actually the best improved component of the offense. The O-line is getting more experienced together and that is a good thing. A little better on run blocking than pass protection- I want to see improvement for that. ...Solid B Receivers and T.E....A+ ....A.J. is a beast. The best at wide receiver this year year without a doubt. If the Texans were playoff bound, could be in the running for MVP mention. Owen Daniels is definitely an above averge tight end. He blocks better than nearly all others and runs routes well. A great combo with A.J. ...Even our second tier wide receivers are better than some teams first tier players (#11, and #83)...You get the idea why the offense is #3... Defensive line...Mario is superb. in fact when I think of the D line...for some reason I can only think of him. He is the only reason I don't go give the D-line a fat failure grade... In my view still the weakest component of the Texans. ...very sad considering top picks in the past. Definitely need an opposite pass rusher, and for all others besides Mario to step up at getting to the QB. Slightly better against the run, and the good news is experience tends to help int. linemen become better against the run. .. D+ Linebackers:...Demeco is great against the run, and I really think he got that extra pep in the step over the last 4 to 5 games. The others seem to play average overall and that is why I give a C-...A good coach once said you can never have too many good linebcakers and the Texans need to keep looking as well... Secondary:...Bennett and Robinson are not problems. They are solid corners. The safetys got to be better and upgraded. D+ Coaching:....Kubiak is a good coach. Jeff Fisher says so often. Good enough for me, but let's all agree to get a new Def. Co-ordinator
Didn't want to jinx it but my 'over 7.5 wins' bet from march just hit. Bonus money coming in the mail!
Lessee... 4-12 5-11 7-9 (last game: L vs. the BROWNS) 2-14 6-10 (finished with W's against INDY & the Browns) 8-8 (finished 3-1) 8-8 Other than Kubiak's first two seasons, I don't see too many candidates for "FINISH STRONG" in there. Let's hope Kubiak's boys start off better next year than this!
I think it depends on how you would define a top QB; If we want a Peyton Manning, Brady or Favre (in his prime), then yes we will probably be left wanting. But if we want a top 10 to top 5 quarterback, then we're set. If you look at his passer rating, the only QBs who have better are Aaron Rodgers, Romo, P. Manning, Warner, Brees, Pennington and Rivers. That's some pretty damn good company right there.
What are the chances that Slaton gets AFC rookie of the year? If he were on a better team, like, say the Titans, I think he would be a run away. Not only does he have the 6th most (I believe) rushing yards in the NFL, but he is a key receiver on our team, too. Moreso than what I've seen from the other rookies. I'd say it's a toss-up between him, Johnson, and Flacco, with Slaton getting third, and Flacco winning.
I'm proud of the Texans. We need to start as strong as we finished this year. Like always, looking forward to next season.
