I think It should be Landry not Scola. Tonight against the Jazz, Scola played 47 minutes he really did not do anything Landry would not have been able to do. They are virtually the same player except Landry dunks the ball and is much more stronger. I honestly believe Landry should be playing in the 4th more than Scola. Both of them are great hustle players, but I think Landry's game is more of an impact in the 4th than Scola.
Landry is PUTRID on defense.....until he actually learns to stay in front of his man or to correctly receive a post entry pass, he sits. Scola is a better basketball player than he is right now. DD
I think having 2 weak side defenders ( Landry and Yao ) is more helpful than whatever Scola does on defense. Landry is more versatile on defense, but Scola is smarter.
And Carl Landry is incapable of doing that? If that's all that matters we mind as well have Chuck Hayes out there, since he's probably the league leaders in charges taken. Also, if teams are playing small ball. Rockets should consider playing Artest at the 4.
Scola can dribble, but Landry cant, when Landry get the ball, he always jump up to finish our offense, the area he can score is the colored area. But with Yao on the floor and a swarming to Yao, there is no enough space for Landry, so I would see Scola together with yao at 4th qtr,not Landry, although Landry's defence is better than Scola..
I like Landry, but he was being guarded by Korver, and twice they tried to go to him and he failed to seal Korver by using his ARSE..... Unless he can do that, he needs to sit... DD
i hope you're kidding. Scola rebounds as well, if not better, than Landry. Shoots better. His hustle is non stop, both on D and offense...the problem is Scola has intangibles, much like Battier, and doesn't always stand out.
i rarely see Landry on the fast break, Scola is often AHEAD of the pack and finishes it, did you see how he busted his ass downcourt to make sure his man wasn't open? He always does that, even when his man isn't in scoring position. So many guys score on one end and their man takes off the other way to score, not with scola. I also agree he has trouble catching the entry passes, Landry has upper body strength, but Scola's base is much more solid.
Yes Landry made a huge block at the end of the 2nd. That still doesn't change the fact that he was not able to get post position on Kyle Korver.
end of the 2nd quart. isn't clutch. Thats the 1st block Landry has made in a long azz time, might be his 1st this year.
It is not more important....Landry is a good player, but he is not starter quality especially on defense he just gives up far too many easy layups.... If he would position himself better he would be playing more... DD
Who's on the 4th quarter? That has tons of factors. To name a few... 1. Who's on/off? Which player seems to have it going for them? 2. Opponent. The 3 PF have their weaknesses/strengths. Match them. 3. Fouls. Are one of the 3 PFs in foul trouble? Chuck Hayes on some games. Luis Scola on some games. Carl Landry on some games. This is called being flexible.
Landry is less efficient than last season, especially his rebounding. At the same time Scola has become a better rebounder. Scola 7.5 rebs in 27.06 mins -> 13.28 rebs in 48 mins Landry 5.1 rebs in 20.30 mins -> 11.94 rebs in 48 mins That is before tonight. Tonight Scola had 14 rebs in 47 mins, Landry 4 in 22.
I think Landry is a better offensive player, and Scola is a better defensive player. Carl is mistake-prone on pick and roll coverages and rotating in help defense. But I trust his jumper, his offensive rebounding, and his ability to finish in traffic much more.
