I'd never ever do this, but I've wanted to before. Scary nutjobs everywhere... http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/27/movie.shooting/index.html (CNN) -- A man angry that a family was talking during a movie threw popcorn at the son and then shot the father in the arm, according to police in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. James Joseph Cialella, 29, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons violations, a police report said. Cialella told the family sitting in front of him in the theater on Christmas Day to be quiet, police said. An argument ensued while others at the Riverview Movie Theatre watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Cialella then approached the family from the left side of the aisle and shot the father, who was not identified, as he was standing between Cialella and his family, according to the police report. The victim was taken to Jefferson Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm, police said. Cialella was carrying a Kel-Tec .380-caliber handgun clipped inside his sweatpants, police said. He was arrested and taken into custody.
At the risk of moving this to the D & D I'm wondering what the concealed carry law is in PA and if this man owned that gun legally and had a concealed carry permit.
They should show this story on the screen right after the previews at every movie. I'm not saying he shoulda shot em.....but I understand.
This reminds me of that Walmart commercial where the mom is acting all happy because "we can't be as loud as we want" after getting their bluray player. Dang!
Followed by a huge scary pic of the guy that did the shooting. That will stop folks from yapping throughout the movie.
The article didn't mention the race of either the shooter or the family. For all we know they could have been tortoises. Who's being racist now? (But yeah, I know we were all thinking the same thing.)
BLACK PEOPLE TALKIN IN THE MOVIES YA'LL.................... ....is something a racist person would think
ROFL! a Chris Rock reference, which reinforces moes' suspicions.. KingCheetah = co-MVP of the bbs, (with the thadeus that is)
Great Chris Rock references. As for races, yeah I knew who moestavern was talking about. Saying that though, I've been at movies where teenage white girls wouldn't shut the **** up. Funny thing is about a couple of weeks ago I went to watch the new Bond and there was an older black dude who snapped at some white people who were talking quite a bit. No matter who does it, its annoying. This thread is going to end up in the D&D. Though I think the biggest thing about this story is being missed by everybody. Hasn't Plaxico Burress taught people not to carry guns in sweats?
I wanted to shoot a whole bunch of teenagers with my shush words at the Gulf Point AMC. That place has become a teenage gansgta playpen. Luckily the movie was bad (The Spirit) but we finally got up and just got our $9.50 back and a free pass I'll never use on top of that. That crowd was awful. We had a line of people behind us getting their money back. Alamo Drafthouse only from now on... they would've taken their asses out.
This is why everyone should go see movies in the afternoon (if they can) during the middle of the week. Weekends and holidays turn into the nut house at the movie theatres.
i don't know if it's the theater i've been going to or not, but the last few times I've had some real talkers behind me. no whispering either, just normal voices like they couldn't care less.
